Thanks Brett for organising a great weekend. As others have said, yeah, it was wet, but we had a great time. It was good to catch up with people again. Special thanks to Brenton for the entertainment with his classic car, caravan and motorbike - you have to see them to believe them! Here are some pictures. Here is the gazebo in which all the men's business took place This photo is a bit fuzzy but it was very picturesque with the lights shining out along the top and through the curtains Brett's 1967 homemade, new to the Vintage Van scene Note the shelf under the cupboard at the back, handy for storing shoes. Under the top drawer is a shelf that extends to hold that morning cuppa. Brenton's custom 49 Ford, chopped, airbagged, frenched, shaved, flame-thrower, and more internal technology than a lunar rocket - what a cruiser. If you look hard you can see the flame coming out of the right hand exhaust Brakelights Even Brenton's caravan is airbagged His vintage moped came in handy for a few laps of the caravan park, with no shortage of takers. The moped bolts into a custom made frame on the A-frame of his caravan - very clever! Also on it's maiden voyage with the vvers is Martin and Janette's Vacation van Towed by an original HT Prem Social gatherings are always an important part of the weekend: Before leaving we tried to get all the vans lined up for a photo-shoot, sadly we couldn't get all in one shot due to the layout of the area we were in Cheers, Dave and Lil

Hi Dave01 and Lil01, Thanks for the pics. Great to hear that you had a good time together, despite the weather. How many of you climbed into your wetsuits and hit the waves? Don Ricardo

Hi there Dave01 Looks like a fantastic time was had by all, though I'm suspicious about the activities under the Gazebo of Testosterone. I'm really looking forward to an outing as soon as we can make more progress with our own van - the seemingly glacial Seeshell. I love seeing people's 'holiday snaps' so thanks for sharing yours. There certainly are some lovely vans, and it's clear how much effort goes into restoring and refurbishing them. Would have been good to have a shot of all the vans in a conga line, but it's almost as good to know that there are so many they don't fit in a single shot. I was particularly interested in the shape of one of the vans - it looks English/very early. The lantern roof van with the brown 'swoosh' is a handsome old thing - what is it's make and year? Cheers Seeshell

Thanks for the photos Lil,
I've been having some trouble getting my shots onto the computor, will try again tonight.
Photos were taken Sunday morning. It rained ALL day Saturday and when we woke up Sunday morning there was not a cloud in the sky, figures!
Thanks to Brett for organising the weekend and a big thanks to all who came along. It just shows it does not have to be perfect weather to be able to get out there and have some fun with like minded folks.
See you all at the next one.
Leigh.

Nice collection of vans in one place!
That van of John's dad is not an Aerolite f/f, it's actually homebuilt by the original owner, who was an engineer. I owned that van at one stage (long story). Seems to be an amalgam of styles, with a touch of Flynn in it.

Thanks for those photos Dave & Lil.... you do that so well Seeshell, just to add to what F/F has said about THAT absolutely beautiful van you refer to... it has a bit of history on the forum. It was first posted by Mark T way back in 2004.... have a look in DHL HERE at reply # 9.. (where it is refered to as a "Home made caravan".... should be moved to "Aerolite" thread if that is what it is...... how did you know that f/f ) Ray Roehm calls it "The one that got away" And now it belongs to Johns “Mum and Dad”. Have a look at the inside photos ..........Just beautiful Cobber.

Onya Guys and Gals Good to see the vic crew out and about with thier vans and classic /hotrod towcars Looks like ya had a great weekend. As mentioned before.. the weather should not stand in the way of a good time. Most van parks have a camp kitchen or similar shelter where you can congregate and chat. Lots of nice vans... love that lantern roof/bay window van.... sweet. Regards Reddo

My Goodness - the history of the van is like a soap opera... *cue music rising to cresendo - BBC announcer voice chimes in* - Will Ray go home with that little beauty with the bouffant?
- Is she an Aerolite or the 'girl next door' from Bendigo?
- Who is the new flame he stayed with in the Caravan Park?
It's certainly a testament to the original builder, John's father. I would say the whole van verges on sculpture, and the interior fitment is stunning - full credit on the restoration as well. A pretty girl WITH a good personality. I don't think that's a bad idea F/F - a trip to the goldfields would be quite nice and reasonably central for the Vic folks? But you have to give me until at least April to get this Olympic done...we'll be pushing it just to get to Cowra! ;D Cheers Seeshell

Hi All,
Great to see the run was good, & I guess you have to accept whatever happens with the weather.
Lots of great vans, good cars & good people.
What more can anyone ask for (except for money I guess)
Hope to catch up again with you again before too long.
JBJ & Boots

Seashell - just to clarify, John's dad was not the builder of that van, he bought it from the widow of the builder not long after I declined it. A bit confusing, I know.

Just to clarify and confirm what Ray has already said. Dad purchased his van from the widow of the builder who was an engineer in Footscray. Not sure where Aerolite comes into it? It now resides in Bendigo thanks to Ray passing on the details when he decided to decline on it. Great photo's Lil, thanks. Cheers, John

Hi John and Ray
There was an earlier post that suggested it was an Aerolite, but that's been cleared up, as has John's dad being the builder. Thanks.
A very lovely van you have in the family John.
Cheers Seeshell

Thanks Lil for the photos, you do a great job. We really enjoyed meeting everyone again, finding out more about their vans (and cars). See you at the next one, Robyn and Ian....rain, hail or shine (after we fix the leaks in the car!!!)
