Hi All,
Just a warning to those headed out to this event.
DONT go via the road from Woodenbong to Killarney, in northern NSW. Its the worst road you could imagine, I've been on it in a car several times & its outrageous that it could be so rough & still bitumen sealed. I remember a few years back when Tucki was touring the east coast on his way back to Perth. They called at our place on the way back, after travelling down this road. The maps/GPS dont show it as anything other than a major road. Apparently everything fell out of the cupboads in Tuckis van, lots got broken on the floor, etc.
Other than the road, the Falls area is very nice, & well worth looking at, but go thru Warwick then to Killarney. Hope you all have a great weekend.

G'day Dennis. Keep up the good work I did want to know about that road I was also thinking of going through Canungra, Beaudesert, and then the road from Boonah to Killarney. But we have decided to more than likely "give it a miss" till Rainbow Beach. Hope everyone travels safe and has a good time. Phil

Hi all
sorry haven't got around to letting you know we won't be going to QMF. Too much to do at home at that time.
Will see you all either at Rainbow Beach or Canungra

Thanks for that heads up Dennis, thats exactly the way I had planned on going from Evans Head - does that mean we should go via Tenterfield?? Adds almost a couple of hundred extra kms ... but rather a decent road than cause damage!

Hi Doug,
The road thru Casino, Drake & Tenterfield, then Wallangarra to Warwick is not too bad. Its steep & tight going up the mountain, but I've towed vans up & down it half a dozen or more times. Last trip was Lucille behind our 245 Valiant, & it wasnt too bad. Depends on how well your Holden handles big hills & the occassional hairpin bends. Its slow going between Drake & Tenterfield. About 330 km that way
I would tow Deejay behind my hot rod up that way if I had to, but its got a tad more grunt & car weight, & a 5 speed, than your holden.
The best way , although its longer, is up through the gold coast, & out thru Toowoomba to Warwick, then to Killarney. By far the better roads, less remote if something breaks, & much better average speeds to compensate for extra distance. I reckon fuel costs & travelling time would be similar either way from Evans Head. Its about 440 Km that way

Hi Everyone,
I don't think I am going to be able to make it to Queen Mary Falls after all.
I have recently purchased a house and am spending time everyday working on it to get it up to scratch.
So unfortunately that also means that I have to miss out on some weekends away.
Hope you all have a great time.
See you at Canungra if not before.
Luv Di xx

So who is going from the northside on Friday ? We are leaving about 1pm . Hopefully it won't be stormy. The forecast for the weekend is looking good though. Temperatures down to 1 degree in Warwick ! John

Hi all, I have the van packed and was planning on leaving today and taking a slow mosey on down to Killarney. But after conferring with the weather gods, commonsence must prevail. I am really not over this chest infection as yet and it would be silly to come away and stay in near freezing conditions for the next couple of days as I don't want to end up in hospital again. So I will stay at home in the nice warm weather instead. Hope you have a great time and see you at at Rainbow Beach instead. Much love Di xx

That last pic looks a bit rude Doug.? We had a great time as usual. It was a small turnout but that only makes getting to know everybody even better. Diane forgot to mention how us, Geoff, Stan and Debbie took the wrong road into Queen Mary Falls. We came across a huge important sign stating that the road was not to be used for caravans or trailers. ( It didn't say anything about teardrops) We stopped and asked a local who said we SHOULD be alright but if we crash we would be in deep s..t. . Geoff and I made our way up one of the steepest windiest tracks we have ever been on. There were very few places for an oncoming car to pass as the road was only just wide enough for us. It seemed to take forever but we made it only to find that Stan and Debbie had gone through with their full sized van a few hours before us. How they did it we don't know. We came home the civilised road . Thanks again Obe and Lyn. We had a ball. Cheers . John
