the "Popular" is indeed a "nicely shaped" van ......very sweet .....nice profile ......its little wonder as to why it was "Queensland Favourite Caravan" in the 1950's ;D Maybe our resident master signwriter Daggsey could start work on reproducing the magnificent popular by litecraft signage ready for when davidandlyn have completed the resto ;D ;D Mark

What a great retrieval; the photos make it look like it all went well but they don't always tell a story do they! Those roads certainly need a great deal of care at the best of times, but the effort is well worth it you have a great looking van there. Cheers, Doug. PS. Do you know how / why it ended up in that situation - looks like it used to be a loading ramp??

Great effort, to be honest I thought the drop out of the shed was worse than it is from earlier reports, still a nice little step though hey? nice little drive down the mount as well by looks of it my guess is we could have walked it faster than you drove it,also looks a bit damp if I'm not mistaken would only have added to the excitment on the day,I like everyone else am looking forward to more pics, all in all a job WELL DONE!!!!

Wow Davidandlyn, Congratulations on the great rescue - some real hurdles to overcome, but you seemed to do it exceptionally well. Great job! The van certainly looks worthy of rescue as well. There are not too many Litecraft around, and I think this is the only Popular model of that era that we've seen on the forum. It is worth saving just for the curved wardrobe (I presume) doors alone! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the restoration. Good luck with it all! Don Ricardo

Hiya David and Lyn, I always had the impression that you could accomplish great feats of engineering improvisation and you've just proved me right. And all that without a crane of any kind!!! I'm sure it will be a very valued addition to your collection but don't let the guys at your place of work see it or how clever you are. They may find more work for you!! Australia's heritage is a little more secure because of you both. Great job, well done. I look forward to seeing it finished and maybe Mark T. will include it in the next issue of the VV Calendar.... or maybe 2013. All the best with it. Paul & Yoko
