Sorry to hear of your cars damage Reddo, I too had a coin scratch about a metre long on the front guard of my FJ, yours was much worse but I think I know how you feel just the same!

Was for no reason, and it is weirdly hard to describe just how gut wrenching it was. I got it fixed straight away just get over it. Will not let the car outta my sight now when we take it out. Dino Yeah.. i agree Dino. Sorta leaves ya wandering where is it safe to take/park your car. You go over in your mind who ya may have pissed off. Then ya think it was done by some jealous B that will never have the time .. money ..ability or inclination to own a car so they just go around vandalising anyones car that appeals to them.?? Then you wander where the hell is it safe to walk away from your car when youi go out. Its very rare for me and Trish to go out after dark nowadays... Although it is now been proven that the scumbags will have a go at your car in broad daylight the minute you walk away from it. The manager at work has been great. He has told me again today to keep parking the ute in the staff car park as long as i need to .... or until the Ahole is caught . Panelvan repairs are well on the way... i am playing 2 panelbeaters at one time ... only they dont know that yet. One has the 2 front gaurds... other has the drivers side door. Have asked em to call me when they have things plated up.. before touching it with any bog... Whoever is the neatest gets the big chunk to keep working on rust in the left sill and lower corners of the firewall. Wont have time before Cowra for a total respray. Hope to get thing patched and painted up to the waistline by 20th April. That will leave time to reassemble it and get ready for Cowra. Tailgate and roof will be done later. Gunna contact the bloke i bought the FJ ute off . He done the panel and paint on it originally. I know he is gunna cry when he sees the scratches. But i would be happy for him to do the repairs . He used acrylic when he restored it... and most panel shops you walk into nowdays use two pack enamels,,,,, Lazy buggers dont like burnishing and buffing. Meanwhile i will keep grinding the axe and loading the shotgun in case i come face to face with the dog that done the "scribing" Regards Reddo Read more: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=towcarsboard&action=display&thread=7285&page=2#ixzz1oett5xkC

Yo.... Had a bit of luck when i met up with the bloke i bought the FJ ute off of. After we both finished crying about the damage the little Aholes had done to the bonnet he said that he thought he had a litre or 2 or the paint he sprayed the ute with still in his shed..... He rang me later that day to let me know he had found the paint...... Bfore he could hang up i had driven the 35Ks and collected it. He siad he would have been happy to do the repairs and respry the bonnet but he has been pretty crook lately. He wouldnt take any dosh for the paint so i will have to figure out a way of getting square with him..... Things are on the up and up with the FB van... Had to blast the 2 front gaurds and prime em.. bring em back to the beater. They now have 2 new lower 1/4s... 2 new headlight eyebrows.. 2 new rear corner sections.. ( near the windscreen.) a bit over $1000 just getting the 2 front gaurds up to scratch Knock a few small dents out of bonnet New left sill. Rust repairs in lower corner of firewall both sides. Dig all the bog out of old rough repair in right rear gi=uard between door and tailght .. repair properly.. heat shrinks etc. Completely rebiuld bottom of driver side door .. was more rust than metal Respray everything up to door handle hieght all the way around the car... except tailgate and spare wheel door. That will get done along with the roof when i get back from Cowra... Got the bro to do some period "Golden Fleece"signwritting on the side panels where the windows use to live.. Get the car back this wednesday arvo.... A few weeks earlier than i thought i would... No prizes for guessing where i will be spending easter... yup.. in the shed of invention piecing it back together.. Cheers fa now.. Reddo

Hi Reddo
It's very true that nothing is ever simple - and it always takes twice as long as you think it will. And four times as much money...
But how lucky are you! Sure sounds like you've met your soulmate though - all those FB goodies! Maybe it was some sort of Garage Karma to get you two to meet?
Whatever the reason, we are both glad to hear the ute getting fixed up and recovering from the vandalism.
Cheers Seeshell

Happy Days Kiddies... Panelvan has been released from the clutches of the panelbeater.. All plans for the easter break cancelled. I am taking my vacation in the shed of invention... I called at the local servo this morning ... A Shell /Coles supermarket consortium.. Vpower Unleaded.. $1.75.9 cents per litre... They work on you spending over $150 in Coles so ya can get your 20 cents a litre discount voucher and buy shell fuel. And each night on telly we are being asured that there will be no price gouging over the easter break.... Pity help the poor buggers travelling anywhere this easter Happy with old mates efforts on the lower half of the car... Old "David" the golden fleece ram is enjoying getting carted around on the van.... Gunna keep fettling the FJ ute and sort a few bugs out as well.... just in case some unforseen drama comes up and the panelvan cant go to Cowra... Cheers Reddo

hi Reddo,
Good to see it happening. It cetainly looks a good repair & repaint.
Hope it all goes together good now, & you can take it a bit easy between now & Cowra
We got a 28c per litre voucher the other day, & unleaded was still only?? 153.? per litre up here yesterday. I have to tow some furniture to Brisbane over Easter, so I guess its just grin & bear it. Those dockets help when you have a 90 plus litre fuel tank like I do.
But I can remember when we went to Morgan in a group several years back, that premium was around $1. 70 per litre back then, & my rod had an auto in it then. I was getting about 4.5 km/litre then. I now get about 6 km/litre towing Deejay, so fuel costs for me havent increased that much

And just take it Slow and steady over Easter young fella, don't scratch it. Cobber.

Hi Den.. Yup.. i remember the trip to Morgan back in 2006.. also remember Boots ringing me about 20K out of Hay while i was leading the cruise across the plains in the 60 series Toyota landcruiser with "Matilda "waltzing along behind me and Joel... ......and she used a word i havent heard her use since.. something to do with slowing...( the ...f word) up... as you where running on empty. We made it to Hay and all 6 garages where shut in the main street.on good friday.. Ya run out of Juice about 500 yards from the big road house at the end of town memorys of the early vint van trips stick with me old mate... even the phone conversations Boots.. ;D Cobber.. the colour is actualy close to the yellowish colour.. original colour is called " Honey Beige".. bloody flash on my new camera kicks in when ya dont want it to I m sure the bro would love a trip to Cowra to catch up with all the characters on this forum.. he often has a chuckle about comments made by certain people on here.. But.. even if i convinced him to tag along in the panelvan to cowra i think he would enjoy a holiday more than the income from signwriting ..... Never know but do ya.. will ask him and see if he's keen to co pilot the Panelvan with brushes and paint onboard.... ... waddya reckon Jeff?? ( he has been a lurker on the forum since 2006.. yup..there is 2 of us ) Regards Reddo
