Here are some more photos rare to see a Vauxhall rod A pair of nice 2 door 55's. Jondi's awesome candy orange and black took out a well deserved top 5 - well done John & Dianne The old building this vehicle is parked outside of Looked like this the next morning. Caught fire around 3am and burnt to the ground. It was a patchwork store. Within 10 minutes of the town's fire siren going off, the fire brigade was on its way - very responsive.

Thanks for the pics guys. Another great weekend away with you lot. We had a ball. Near perfect weather , good food ,good company. What more could you ask for. The nightly get togethers were hilarious with CruisinDoug and Tracy getting stirred by us all. Their PHANTOM FJ blew the auto south of Toowoomba apparently so we never got to see it AGAIN. (FJ what FJ) Tracy had a problem with the mens toilets not having enough screening at the door but she always made a point of stopping to check it out instead of turning a blind eye. LOL... We won't mention her feeding the cows in the middle of the night ( it's a long story ) All the younger campers were pretty quiet and we were cackling with laughter all night. Anyway we dropped into Obe and Lyns at Grantham on the way home and made it back all in one piece . Hope everyone else did too. Unlike the fatal accident we came across just after Gatton. A car came over the centre barrier from the high side down onto our side and rolled . It just makes you think a few minutes earlier and we could have been right there in it's path. You never know when your time is up so we have to keep doing our VV trips and making the most of our spare time. Enough ranting . Thanks again Rods Inc for a great weekend and thanks to all our VV bunch for the good company.

Great photos Neil & Cheryl. I went for a ride in the hot rod with a younger gent at least 75 years old and he gave the accelator a touch and we were doing 85mph for a short while- a great blast. Just to show us what a Chev motor will do - very impressive.
Another great weekend, great people, great company, great cars, next year the Easter weekend is at Millmerran for the 10th year and there will be a bigger celebration next year and the next year Rods Inc are holding the Nationals at the Gold Coast and no Millmerran event.
As Cheryl & Neil mentioned the patchwork shop was burnt down, a collection went around for them and they collected roughly over $1000.00 to give to the shop owners.
Also earlier this year the a couple of hot rod clubs did a collection and gathered close to $50,000.00 goods and furniture and took it out to Grantham for the people out there. What an effort in fundraising. This year's money went to the Girl Guides for their association.
Well another great weekend and see you at May weekend. Yahh.
I liked Elise's and Dave's Space Odessy - something different. Gee I wonder what they are going to turn up with next???
Congratulations to John & Di for being in top 5 with their Chev. Yahh

Yep it was a great weekend, despite the ute finding its usual place of residence for a VV run ..... I am over it! Anyone wanna buy a cheap ute? Oh and the top tank of the radiator is leaking now - so this will be third time lucky for that and second time for the trans .... why can't these people that run a business claiming they can fix stuff do what they are paid for? ?? Anyway, gotta give the RACQ (Ultra has become a MUST ) the thumbs up for their efforts to still get us there with only the Thursday lost. We had a ball, especially with all the "helpful" advice comming from all angles ;D ;D ;D Plenty of car pics all ready up so I thought I'd go with some combos ... Only noticed this late on the last day , spoke with the owners briefly as they were about to hit the road they say its a Globetrotter that was covered with aluminium when they got it, had bond wood underneath. Andrew took us for a run in the driving events, as you can hear from the girl(s) in the back it was a hoot ;D ;D ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP8yU0gyfpgSee you all at Maroochydore but probably in the "normal" tow car! Doug and Tracy.

Hi Doug, Owning a modified car is a real love/hate relationship at times. If I counted & considered the breakdowns/letdowns/disgraceful failures I've had with my cars over the last 45 years of driving & building modified cars/hot rods, I still would do it all again. The options. Pay a lot of dollars for a piece of (generally) jap crap, 2 days after you buy it its worth 75% what you paid ( if you're lucky). It looks the same as all the other crap in the parking lots/car yards. I am on pretty good terms with several of the local Tilt Tray owners because of my cars failures (on an irregular basis). They dont make their money from guys like us, they make it because of the electrical failures on new crap. You live the lifestyle you want. I'm not interested in late model cars, & never have been. For your sake dont let a couple of problems destroy your enjoyment of your ute. Persevere with your tradesmen. One day you find some that does a good job, they are out there you know. I went thru 5 or 6 C10 autos in my rod until I found someone that knew what he was doing. I ended up using a transmission place at Currumbin on the Gold Coast. I then got several years before it broke again, instead of several weeks. Radiators are similar. The first radiator Aussie Desert Cooler sentfor my Dodge was for a Torana instead of a Fairlane. The second was the wrong width, but I made it work. No one performs like you would expect, except if you are lucky to find a good tradesman. Still with all the problems you are having, your ute is better than a new ??. Stick with it, it can be all fun JBJ

G'day Dennis Its all good I was only joking about selling the ute I just hate being let down by "tradesmen" that charge like a wounded bull and don't do their job properly - then its all the excuses under the sun! I have had many trouble free enjoyable years from the ute so I guess I'm due for a run of outs - lets hope that is it for a while though I know I'll get everthing sorted and get back to the good stuff - don't mind working on cars but not when they are broken!!! ;D ;D Thanks for taking the time to put forward some words of encouragement - the friendship and support of fellow enthusiasts makes it easier to get through things like this with some sanity. At the end of the day a few car troubles is nothing in the big scheme of things - there are plenty with much more to worry about than me! Cheers Doug.

Gday everyone, Nice to meet all of the people I hadn't met earlier, I had a ball and learnt heaps too, feeding/ watering the cows, what goes on in prison La la la la la. etc, had fun with Lyn playing with my nuts and great to see the ladys studying up on the 50's woman. Remember girls - gay, wear nothing but a smile, 15 minutes rest before he comes home and maybe a tie a little bow in your hair, etc
Dave I'm bloody sure that you would have been the fakest Elvis there, though I'm sure there'd have been at least one good lookin, real deal close by.
Photos of the broken phantom humpy too Doug - maybe it does exist ay?? I'm surprised at the lack of swearing in the youtube movie too mate.
Thanks evryone for a great weekend, see you on the next one.
Andrew

Just to add insult to injury, when the van was left overnight in Toowoomba we orgainsed for it to be locked up in a yard so it would be safe .... So they bent it! Its only light damage but predictably enough they are refusing to accept liability for it - and the insurance says unless we could prove they did it in a court of law then the excess is payable. That makes it not worth claiming as it is only light damage - makes you mad Still, these things aren't worth getting all bitter and twisted over - luckily, it needs redoing anyway.

Typical these days how people won't own up for something they have damaged. It sucks. Hope you get the trans back in the Phantom this weekend. It should run good. See you at Maroochy.
