Oldfarts came up with an idea to do a shed run to see what people around our area are up to with thier vans, thought I'd put a post on here to see how much interest it generates.
Due to the size of South Australia, it could be a bit of a logistical nightmare, but it sounds like a great thing to do so if you're keen to have a look at other peoples handy work and show off your own just put yourself and your location down on here!
We're in Elizabeth Vale

I'm located in Parafield Gardens but my van is located at Rockleigh which is near palmer - Tungkillo in the Adelaide hills. Really keen to get on board with this depending when it is and if were free or not.

Howdy Sounds like a great idea, to trek around some sheds of invention. I don't have any works in progress, so no need to trek to Pinnaroo (unless you are bored and want a 2 1/2 hr drive from Adelaide, to look at one very small ally van, and a couple of tow vehicles!!) Cheers Steve

Trying to think of a way to organise this, we could say just visit a couple of people, then in a few weeks visit a couple of others, give it some time for other South Aussies to get into it, or if we leave it till after dave's trip and Steve's lawn bowls season, maybe a few other people will have joined in by then. Try to work out a big circle trip and do it over a Sat/Sun. looking at member location map (top work Minicamper!) which i'm not on! that shouldn't be heaps hard.
Open to suggestions on how to do this.
Andrew

Dave , that Quest van that you have posted appeared at work about 1/2 hour after you left work yesterday. I am doing a quote to restore the bits that the owner Kaye can't do. It's been in her family forever. Regards Larry

Wow, I didn't realsie it'd been so long since anything was said about this, we made it to page 2!
So is it us, andrew82 and Pymie2 opening up our sheds? Anyone I've missed please let me know! A long weekend would probably be a bit less rushed, but we're running out of them this side of winter.
If we make it a staying somewhere event we need to work out where we're going and try to pick a central place, we'll need somewhere dog friendly too.

Top work, thanks Raym!
So how does 18-20 June sound for a time for it? Seems like it could be a circle trip, got a couple down here in the Northern Suburbs, a couple around Murray Bridge and some to look at down Clayton Bay.
I'm thinking find somewhere to stay down here Friday night, look around this way sat, head up to the Bridge, stay there for a night, can look around up there sat arvo/sun morning then go to the Bay for a look around.
Hopfully this works for everyone!

If Pymie is going to open up his many sheds we will need a full weekend just to get through his lot! I don't have a problem having people over and even camping / havng a fire etc at mine. Got a few projects here at the moment being 1 partially striped / restored fb sedan and 2 cortinas. Hopefully I will have a few more by June

Sounds like a plan. As I come thru Murray Bridge to Adel, would it be possible to make it first place to visit (meet you in Murray Bridge on my way to Adel) or last (back to Pinnaroo from there). Doesn't matter if it doesn't work that way, as it has to suit everyone attending, but it would save me a bit of backtracking. Cheers Steve

Christ it's almost June! Thanks to Andrew82 kicking my arse into gear there's been some progress on where to book!
I rang highway one caravan park at Bolivar to book for Saturday night (19th June), apparently fairly heavily booked so ring asap! They'll get us as close together as possible, $26 for the night, 8250 3747.
Friday night at Murray Bridge not going as well, rang one park told to call back in the morning, another didn't answer. 7:30 on a Sat night isn't the best time to book a caravan park!
Hurry up and book the Sat night at Highway One (tell them it's for vintage vans) and I'll have more info for Fri night tomorrow.

I won't be bringing my van (have only towed it in Adel once, when I bought it!!), and its a long way for a weekend as I don't tow it with a modern. So will wait & see where you are staying in Murray Bridge, and see if I can get a cabin or similar (or I can go on to Adel after M/B & stay at Mum's), then catch up on Sat morn somewhere in Adel. Will also get prices for cabins at Bolivar for Sat night. Steve

Only a week to go ;D ;D ;D Some are staying at Mount Barker for Friday night and others are heading to Pymie2's collection of sheds at Callington Saturday morning at a time to be announced, then go to Dave's place at Milang after that for a look at his vans, then drive down to the suburbs, stay at Highway One for Sat night, good chance to sit and relax over some cold beers and chat about vintage vans and stuff , then go to rayms' at Parafield and our collection at Elizabeth sunday

Not long to go now! Wolseley 24/80 sedan tow bar doesn't seem to fit on Freeway wagon! Thought stuff it, I'll try to get a new bar on it this week. Probably a good idea to have a new one for the trip to Tassie anyway. Hopefully we can get it done this week!
