Have you tried Paxford canvas in Mt G ? We have a canvas man where I live who does whatever you ask. He has fixed my ute canopy & put a window in it & is making an awning for our 1964 bondwood. He is making & fitting sailtrack & providing the poles. I just printed off a few pics of what I wanted & he came & measured the van. Alternatively, are your annexe walls separate & how is the roof of the annexe fitted to your van? You could just use that as an awning.

thank you for taking the time to reply. Paxfords were the people who were not interested as per previous note in this thread.(after we towed the little van out for them to do the quote, took a couple of "quick minutes" for him to look at it, no discussion at all, and he quoted us unbelievably expensive for the annexe). (He had done a full annexe for "Igor the fb campervan with heavier material and poles etc for 1/2 of quoted price of our little van). We were so disappointed. (This is why we purchased a light weight annexe and adjusted it to suit for very little money, it is perfect as an extra room, but just looking for a quick cover). Thank you so much for the link, I will now look at it and I am sure I will get the much needed info) Once again thank you kind regards Lesley

Just had an amazing 3 nights away at Narrawong (near Portland vic...) in our little van. Getting things sorted out to what you need and don't etc. We are still towing it with the tonner, with the fb wagon still a work in progress. However, we made a decision to go to the vintage caravan nationals in Broken Hill next year so have switched our priorities around. The gearbox repair on the fb sedan is now number 1 priority ( and we have just fitted a brake booster), the wagon will be on the back burner for a few weeks till the gear box is done. Ideally we would like to have the wagon ready (but we are finding more and more demons to restore on this project, so time in blowing out for us), so we are very happy to tow the little van with the sedan (the outfit as our first pic on here) We at last have found a place that will make us an awning to fit the little van for quick cover. cheers Lesley

Finally except for the awning our little van has almost had all the repair work done. 1 cracked window replaced (2 to go). Easy. Exterior framework repaired/replaced Now we even have tail lights, they have been a problem since we bought it. Last weekend, spent a full day with it hooked up to tow vehicle, had all lights except for tail lights.... Checked all wiring, power was getting, part way, everything checked out ok to that point. Time to go digging inside.....well well well, in the box under the seat was another "hidey hole" pulling it apart we found a power point ..and ...battery terminals to hook up a spare battery to run the caravan off when we suppose the previous owner was "free camping". Discovered by turning the power point off it cut the power to the vehicle so you can use the spare battery. Turning it on lets the power go to the tail lights......We are "newbies" to this caravanning, guess we will suss it all out in time... cheers Lesley

That reminds fo one of our early caravanning forays. Thought we'd better have a practice down the paddock off the grid (no power) b4 we set off round Aus. By the morning the fridge was hot as hades. (we were also ignorant about the effects of running a fridge off your car battery at that stage too ;D ) Anyway, much searching & following leads & came across something under the couch called a 'fridge switch'. Home to Google & discover a fridge switch cuts the 12v power to the fridge when the van stops moving & therefore prevents you from running your car battery flat if you have stopped for a swim, or lunch etc. A good thing

Yes it is very simple but very clever. This is something else we have learned about the little van....hmmm surely not too much more to sort out One can only hope we are sorted out properly before Broken Hill

Hello, I know a lady in Gladysdale who will make to order. It is called Little Yarra Canvas on the Yarra Junction Powelltown road. If your not from over this way, it is a terrific caravanning trip to come over as it is in the Yarra Ranges near the State Forest, not too far from beautiful Warburton. 525 Little Yarra Rd GLADYSDALE, VIC, 3797 Click to show (03) 5966 6287 Custom Made Canvas Synthetic Fabric Products

I just got a quote for 3m x 2.2 would be around $267 I think including the sail track (or slide rail). The sail track can be bought at Bunnings - a 3m piece is around $15. If you want it longer, you can then buy it in 1m lengths for around $4 and it will abut perfectly against the edge of the longer piece making it continuous when you put it on your van. It can be screwed on ensuring you have a solid bit of edging or frame to screw it into (then seal the screws afterwards of course). If you make your own awning, you just sew a 6mm rope into the side of the piece of lightish fabric leaving rope trailing each side and you can slide or pull it through. Or you can get a nylon welt from a camping supply store that can be sewed on making it a nice easy slide. I did a search on ebay and you can get pieces of canvas of that size for around $60 - The colors may vary but RRP of canvas is around $33 to $45 per metre x 2.2 wide depending on if it is light canvas you are after or light duty canvas for your shade awning. Or I suppose you could use any shade type of fabric.

This looks like a good spot to put in a warning about some tarps that are on E-bay , I recently purchased a " HEAVY DUTY CANVAS TARP ,FROM THE PRICEISRIGHTSHOP ,12X16 ,$94.90 ,EYELETS EVERY 12" , EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY , WATERPROOF , . (that is out of the listing description ). The thread used to weave this tarp is not wound tight enough ,then it is made into a tarp in a very loose inconsistent weave . in fact you can see through it in some sections . You guess if it is waterproof !!!!!!!!!!!!. Made in Pakistan , I FORGOT TO READ THE FEEDBACK BEFORE I PURCHASED .. They have refunded $30 . i have asked them to remove the words "Exceptional Quality "from their listing before i leave feedback . so far they have not done that . Here are 2 photos .. It is made out of 4 pieces and does leak , Cheers Kel.

Hi Folk, OUR LITTLE VAN IS NOW FOR SALE!!! Unfortunately we have made the heartrenching decision to let it go.We have had so many wonderful mini adventures in it. It is super lightweight and is easily towed by a classic/vintage car as we did We are offering it on here for a week then will be put on ebay. I have loads of pics that I can email to anyone interested. At this point I can no longer get the picture posting stuff to work, and have given up. pm me your email address and I can send recent pics to you. As in this "little van thread", there is a fair bit of information. The doona and little extras do not come with it! It has a brand new innerspring mattress, 3 brand new light truck tyres, New trailer hitch. New curtains, new lino on floor. This van DOES NOT leak. It has an ozquick annexe, super lightweight and is totally waterproof. The water tank has been removed due to it being totally rusted out when we bought it. It has a connection for mains water the tap over the sink. It has some saucepans and cutlery which came with it. (We are the second owner). The gas pipes have been removed, (the original stove is in storage and will be sold with the van). Gas can easily be re-fitted There are a couple of small cracks in the corners of the 2 front windows, which we have not got round to getting fixed. We had a side one that was cracked fixed by the local glazier for $90. Our asking price is $2,500. regards Lesley
