Greetings Swellwillys
Love the van What type of veneer is the ceiling done in? Looks a little like rosewood?
The third stoplight is off a .....? And the stars near the door are a nice touch
The strip lighting is a great idea thanks for posting all the photos it gives us all new ideas
All in all a very individual van that is already getting attention ... and it isn't even on the road yet Wait till it is ....You may need to take extra insurance for all the neck injuries of passing motorists ;D ;D ;D

Dear Atog,
Thanks heaps for the praise .
Yep we are on journey with both projects - very enjoyable and educational as well. We are excited about the future !
Bubbles will be finished in Mid September and we will return to "Swell " -the woody - after that ! "Swell " has been 3 yrs in the making and at a stand still at the moment as I have had huge issues getting a panel beater who is prepared to take the job on ( and not charge me an arm and a leg )
Regards the surfboard timber it is 6mm Sirian veneer- yes somewhat like rosewood ! All the bench tops and table top will be laminated 200mm x 32 mm solid sirian and the window architraves and cover strips will be the same timber . The walls are a 4mm Acacia veneer .
The 3rd stop light is in fact a tail/stop light from a FX Holden.
Regards, Swellwillys

Hi Swellwillys
Pete and Trish here (Bribie)
looks like your van is coming along just fine. The timber work looks great and i am sure she will be something special when competed. Well done. The windows you gave us worked out fine, one of them ended up in SA with another dedicated VV sunline owner who was having trouble locating a window to complete his van. Hopefully we can visit you soon. Regards
Pete and Trish

Hi Peteandtrish,
Thanks for your comments and yes we look forward to catching up with you again in the future.
I am pleased to read that someone else in the loop was able to gain an advantage from Bubbles old windows as well as yourselves.
Bubbles has been a little idle of late - we have been utilizing her comfortability on a number of weekends away surfing .
Going to spend Saturday continuing to finalize the shelving ,cupboards and draw fronts and lay up the sirian timber bench and table tops.
Please keep in touch!
Regards, Swellwillys

Swellwillys Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the Beachmere activity because I am having a shoulder replacement on Tuesday. i would have loved for our van to be involved, never mind. We have still along way to go to finish our van, inside is still a cluster. we finally agreed to a color scheme and once my shoulder is OK I will get in to it. It's hard trying to work in your front yard on the open isn't it? If you are able to, give us a call 0419733949 - so we can arrange a get together.
regards
Pete and Trish

Hi Swellwillys. Love the timber work & the 'nose cone'. Question:Is the smart looking leg holding the table original? cheers gordon

Hi Gordon, No the table leg is actually the cut out from the bulk head. (You can see the bulk head - which divides the bunk from the front of the van in earlier photos) Thanks for the comments !

Dear Mr ATOG,
Thanks for your interest and comments.
The tiles I used were quite expensive - though I would recommend the product highly.
They are a FORBO product Allura Tread Pewter type TD196. 1 ctn - which did the entire floor and 1 left over 600x600 tiles. $368.
Your local vinyl tile and carpet outlet may stock the Forbo brand. They have some other fantastic tiles available as well.
I have also seen - at Clarke Rubber - a vinyl sheeting that has the checker plate pattern - not have the product of the Forbo range though.
Regards, Swellwillys

The evolution continued Saturday 7th March 2009. The Sirian inlay for the Roof vent was cut and epoxied into place. Looks a treat and will be even better once it's sanded and clear finished! I'm going to fill the vent ( interior ) perimeter with epoxy filler - fine sand with 240 grit and then paint it black ! Swellwillys.

Also continued with the interior veneer of those dreaded corners! The process is. Installed insulation Prepared a profile for the veneer The profile removed . Cut and epoxy glued the veneer . The intention is to complete all the veneer next Saturday which should allow ample time to complete the interior architraves and cover strips by Easter. Swellwillys
