Well folks, yet another vintage van event for the WA vintage vanners has come and gone.
The happy go lucky vanners had a ball at Brunswick with a fun filled weekend.
Though sleepless nights were the order of the day (night?) we still all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The Brunswick Caravan Park is between the busy South West highway and a major southwest railway junction, so all night long there was the noise of Dairy, Cattle & produce trucks roaring up the highway on one side, with the continual noise of trains passing by and shunting on the other side ...
A L L N I G H T L O N G !!
Snail, the great man who suggested we go to Brunswick this year, instead of the peace and serenity of the Harvey caravan park 20 k up the road, didn't arrive until Saturday.
After our sleepless Friday night, we placed a wheelie bin in the centre of the caravan circle we had formed in which we were going to place him on his arrival, & stone him with our saved eggs and tomatoes.
But, after he primed us all at the pub on the Sat night with White Port, we forgave him (maybe the port was to help us sleep )
On Saturday at lunchtime, we were joined by Carrots, and as you can all understand, we were very happy to catch up with her.
At the pub on Sat night, there were kind words in memory of our great mate Trev, then a toast to the man, and the Trevor Roberts Memorial Run was declared an annual event in May each year, the anniversary month of our first ever run.
The 9 old caravans and one lonely teardrop were placed in a circle, and looked unreal together ......we had our usual mixture of street machines, stockies, rods etc with Ditzy's cool Fairylane and Will's even cooler 54 Ford Ute making their debut on the run.
And two new vans, Greg's recently restored Sunliner looking unreal in White with a neat Maroon interior .....and of course the English "tram" making its debut, an interesting @ unusual van with many features ....geez the Poms do thingz well !!!!
The girls were very relaxed after the pub on Sat night, and after losing all inhibitions, serenaded the town with the Monkees theme .... along with a floor show ;D ;D
And Ditzy took centre stage on the Friday night when she tripped over a guide rope and injured her hand, so she spent the weekend in a sling ......or was that just an excuse to get out of the chores
Mark
PS: I'll get Ditzy and others to post the pics
