Hi Belinda, We cruised to Coledale the other day and warned him to expect us. ;D ;D Looking forward to great weekend and actually sit and relax with these interesting caravan people we hear so much from on this site. John will still have to work , but an extra 10mins drive won't hurt him . Tickos

Ok,OK, Ok You lot have convinced me not to sell my van. I have been sitting back watching everyone sign in to Coledale in October and i just can't stand the thought of you lot all down there having a good time and me missing out. Just got off the phone and have booked unpowered site number 11 next to Maurie and Dorie. As you say Maurice $15 ... cheap as chips. Would have liked to have rolled in Friday arvo but just can't bare the thought of driving across Sydney and thru the tunnel on Friday arvo. So... at least 4 vans so far. Gunna take a few more than 4 to show the crow eaters what us east coasters can achieve. No rottweilers or home brew hooch ( no offence here jailbar. That stuff is just too precious to share) . Just a happy van-ite looking forward to catching up with likeminded bods. At the mo it looks like i will be towing Just Croozn with an '86 turbo landcruiser....... Hmmm gunna have to find an acceptable tow vehicle by then . I know a bloke with a really cool EH Premier wagon.... Hey Mr Dumpty where are you??? Better get on the dog and bone and book that sunliner in to Coledale before you end up rubbing shoulders at the other end of the park with late model aluminium pop tops. YUK Looking forward to it Reddo

I am going to book over the Weekend. Hope they take little dogs under control!!. Will bring a Sunliner ( which one I don't know, one under resto preferred) and hope to tow it down there with the EH Premier or the XP Fairmont S/Wagon....whichever is going well at the time. Looking forward to meeting all these faceless names. I will probably go on Friday via Ryde, Petersham etc. Been that way several times and......)no worries mate!!

Hi everyone, I'd love to come back to a run on my old stomping grounds . But I cant. I've great memories of coledale, growing up as an apprentice at the Port Kembla Steelworks, & picking up chicks in the Gong at Pioneer Hall in the early sixties. Most of the ones I met lived right up around Coledale/Scarborough/Thirroul, and my old customised & lowered 60 falcon used to get a workout on the top of those cliffs. Great memories. The pub used to be the only place in the northern end you could get after hours grog as well. Unfortunately its to far for me at 4 km/litre in my rod,& just before a trip to melbourne in November. Maybe next year we could organise a trip a bit further north, maybe port stephens area. I think us northerners would probably travel 7-8 hours if required. that would be up to Debbie , earlee & other bananabenders to decide. The problem with timing is that a lot of us are rodders, with a real busy schedule. Jailbarjuice

Good to hear the "Dumptys" are booked in.
Now lets see, i was never good at school with sums and "Gozintas", but a think i am ok "Addupz"
4 + Gary + Humpty Dumptys crew = Ummmmm... "6"
Sorry to hear you can't make it Dennis. Might organise something up at Valla Park in the future.

G'Day and Hello all of Ewes Thanks for the reminder Will and Mr Dumpty " The magic 100" ...eh... Seems like only yesterday that I dragged home the RooVan and went in search of info here on the net. i consider myself fortunate to have found you lot and now consider you all as my "extended family". i have found renewed enthusiasm over the past few weeks and have been fiddling with odds and ends on "Just Croozn". I scored an 8 berth 12 foot viscount 8 pop top van the other week for $300 it had a brand new blue striped canvas annexe roof that I will modify to suit the plyvan. The mate brought the pop top off me for what i paid for it so the annexe has cost me nix so far. I would have like to have kept the 3 way fridge but it would have been sacrilege to put such a mod con in a van that does not have either gas or 240 volt lectricity installed. Nup... i will stick with the bag of ice in the top of the ice chest just the way god intended things to be. The other mods that I have been working on is swapping the axle from "over the springs" to under the springs. This combined with 14" x 195 X 70 series radials on 14" X6" HG holden mags has raised the van to a tow ball hieght of 540mm. it looks like a 1950s 4X4 van and sits dead level behind the landcruiser. The down side is i am gunna have to install an elevator to get from ground level to the first floor. If i ever score another early model car it will only take an hour to lower it back to its original level. i will sidestep crapbucket and send a picha of Roo Van on steroids to Ditzy some time soon. Thirdly is the spare wheel mod. As someone has already pointed out if i tow the van with an early Holden i wouldn't need to set up a spare wheel carrier. Too easy!!! I wont be hacking any holes in the ply. Will stick with the vertical front mount. Anyway thats enough crap from me at the moment. I will sign off and wait from the phone call from the queen ..... waddya mean she only rings when I turn 100 years old . Not 100 posts? I aint gunna live to be a hundred. .....Unless there is some sort of exilcer of life in that Jailbar juice. Reddo - "100 today" from the far side.

It's a small world, I met the Tickos mob today at a combined 5 car club (Grey Pride 2005) run to Berrima NSW.
I also clapped eyes on thier beaut Green Chev but alas not the van.
That will probably have to wait till the East Coast get together in October.
See you all then, Gary

Good on you Spyder and well done Belinda. That is a good looking van Spyder--and one that doesn’t leak water too I bet. How many is that now Belinda, is it eight or nine vans? Eight I think. Cobber.

G'DAY V'CERS , Spoke to Dave from Coledale Beach caravan park this week and he said we have 9 sites already booked for our weekend away. The list so far , site 10 - Maurie. site 11 - Glen. site 12 - Gary. site 13 - John and Lynelle. site 21 - Belinda. site 22 - Bob. site 23 - Mrs Magrin. site 25 - Peter. site 26 - John. I think the jump in numbers is because of the powered and un-powered sites . Hopefully we will still be in a straight line along the beach front . I'll be bring along Kate , my little Jeanie , (never ever say's "Yes Master") , shame ! Is everyone else bringing their partners ? Anyway lets see if we can crack it for 20 vans ! Anyone else interested , the phone no is (02) 4267 4302 . The price is $15.00 unpowered , and $20.00 powered , and its 15-16 October . Regards MAURIE . "KEEP HOLDEN ON"

I think it would be very hard not to bring our partner Maurie !!! I know I would be in trouble if I even thought about going without the missus. Working hard on Sunliner2 for this trip.

To give you an idea of the layout at Coledale, all the sites are in a line facing the beach. It is actually a beachside reserve administered by the surf club, with a resident manager to keep an eye on the place.
Sites 1 to 20 are the un-powered sites. I think he's probably given you the nice sites with a bit of shade and not to close to the loos.
Between sites 20 and 21 is the amenities block - cold showers for the public, hot showers for those of us with a key, a kitchen to get hot water and do the washing-up. Next to the beach there are electric barbecues and picnic tables.
Sites 21 to 26 are the powered sites. We picked 21 on purpose because with three little kids we go for the spot nearest the loo.
cheers
Belinda

G'DAY VCERs , Hope alls well and on track for our mini caravan spectacular , at Coledale Beach . I think i picked up another two starters for the weekend . Peter and Annette in a plywood with stocky black 48-215 sedan . And John in a Propert , not sure of tow vehicle . Meet these characters at ALL HOLDEN DAY on Sunday , along with many others who just loved the idea of a vintage van , behind there vintage thing-a-me-jig vehicle . Meet 1/2 Doz people from this site , all whom are going to Coledale . ;D It was suggested that we get the vintage tow vehicles together Saturday arvo for a run to Kiama , for coffee , for an hour or two , then back before dark for a group B.B.Q at the Beach . Sounds good to me .! What do you think .? WE could spice this up by swapping co-drivers , for the drive , to experience each others rides , cars that is ! ( what did you think i meant ? ) OH BEHAVE ! Anyway heres to a GOOD weekend . REGARDS , MAURIE . "KEEP HOLDEN ON"

Hey Maurie The run into kiama sounds cool to me. Theres a great little ice cream shop in town. Trish can have a single cone and i'll tackle a 4 litre tub of strawberry flavoured ice cream. Finished off with a double malt thick shake. Gotta leave a bit of room for the 4 steak sanggers back at the BBQ. burp, f#rt. Yummo!!!! Reddo That reminds me i have gotta ring old mate at the park and let him know we are gunna rock in about friday lunchtime. currently booked in on the saturday.

Calling all Coledale trippers, I got a phone call today from a bloke called Murray Allcock (u sure you want to go ahead with this swap co-drivers idea Maurie ) he has a 1951 caravan and his tow car is a T model Ford. He said he was given a flyer about our run from “somebody” at a hot rod doo in Nowra. He has booked a site and will be there. Saturday run to Kiama sounds good to me. Cobber.
