Posting pictures using Photo Bucket..
It seems (as is often the way with computers) there’s more than one way to do things.
It’s more about what you find easier rather than one method being better or worse than any other.
First step..
Register a (freebie) account with Photo Bucket at:
www.photobucket.com
Once you’ve registered with Photo Bucket, upload the pictures you wish to show on 'Vintage Caravans' forum into PhotoBucket.
To post the picture on 'Vintage Caravans'..
I find it easier to type up the text I wish to post in an 'MS Word' document, as I’m doing with this one now.
Go to the picture you want in PhotoBucket and look down the left side under the picture.
You’ll see three ‘strings’ under the picture..
They are..
URL .. ( http://... The direct live web link to the picture.)
Tag .. ( img src="..." For posting to places such as ebay.)
Img .. ( ...[/IMG ] For message boards like this one.)
Left click in the third one, the ‘Img’ (Image) string to highlight it.
Right click and copy the string.
Go back to the document you’ve typed for posting (or the message box if you’re typing it direct to the forum).
Right click and paste the ‘Img’ string into the text, at the point were you want the picture to show.
The picture can be inserted anywhere you like in the text.. The start, middle, or end of the text, to suit where you want the picture to show in the post.
Copy and paste the whole document text into the message box..
Click ‘preview’ if you want to see how it looks first..
Then click ‘post’.
All done.. : )
---------------------------------------------------
Consider this as well..
Check in your Photo Bucket ‘User Information’ to be sure the Direct Linking is turned on.
With Photo Bucket there’s a limitation of 25 megabytes of storage space with the freebie system.
The larger the picture file size the less pictures will fit in.
Remember too, if you remove a picture from Photo Bucket or change its name it won't show in the thread anymore.
You can use PhotoShop to reduce the image file size (The 'save for web' feature), which will reduce the file size down to as low as 10% of the original file size and still display very well on a computer monitor.
You can also reduce the image size (as well as the file size), using the same PhotoShop feature..
As a guide to what image size to set, try setting the width to..
700 pixels for a landscape picture..
550 pixels for a portrait picture.
If you reduce both the file size and image size it allows the pictures to load much quicker and not be so large they don’t fit on your screen.
