So a little bit more reno today starting with the off-side door:
Most of all this outer will remain the same:
But a couple of changes being a new top ply panel & inner skin to replace this:
Door mesh panel:
The door screen:
Once removed it shows the old diamond pattern ali tacked into place:
Now onto the door step trim, also tacked in place:
Thought i was moving along quite nicely until it was time to tackle the outside door trim - this all has to be removed in order to replace the timber upright where the door locks to as well as being a main cabinetry support:
There was no other way the screws were coming out unless gently prised & pincered out:
Out of the way & door closer discarded:
And the remnants of a locking bracket:
Centre of pic showing the since removed coach bolt probably used for a shelf earlier on in the Td`s life.:
OK,over to the kerb side door:
Similar stuff to go,like the old door bracket, top & bottom closers:
Likewise the door step trim tacked in place that has to be gently folded back in order to remove strip of timber which screws into a section of floor which itself is being replaced:
As with other door, this hinge side door closer will be replaced:
And the hidden coach bolt found (earlier) under the door closer:
Now its time to repair the bent & twisted ali trim pieces here:
The narrow strips were once one piece that ran along bottom of outside front panel above the A frame & were basically as you see them here. The screws are pretty much embedded into the strips:
Took a pair of vyce grips to unscrew from strips & obviously new ones are going to replace them.I know i`ve seen some.Probably in one of these storage drawers!
Well after a little bit of mucking about got the strips as good as could ever be. It`s an easy job normally but in an effort of not wanting to split or snap these 60 y o pieces i just took my time:
And in here lies all the vin caravan bits & pieces like lights/brackets/hinges/knobs/handles etc:
10 bucks each & even got roller wheels. gordon
