Hi All VVers We arrived yesterday afternoon from Maroochydore w/e. What a great job Rod did for us in organising and the superb media coverage, I was able to get onto Macka 'Aust. all over' on Sunday and got the show a mention. We were surprised at the number of people who came to visit, and they only came because of the great media coverage. We were able to add a number of Olympic owners to our register, and not only Olympics but people with vintage vans who are keen to join in some of our events. We were able to gather some history on the Millard brand on the way home, when we dined with the son of the builder and obtained some good info about the early days. We were also lucky enough to meet at Maroochydore a couple who are gathering for us the history of the Gracmur built Sunliners from the owner of the business who is 93yrs and remembers all,-- when the moulds were purchased from Foster, when they sold the first van and whom they sold it to etc. We are hoping to get a list of all the vans produced by Gracemur Caravans. I also chatted to Neil Chesney regarding history of the Chesney brand whilst he visited us at Maroochydore, so we may have some history on this marque which ceased production in 1982. I can not finish without saying a big thank you to all our Olympic friends who turned up for the w/e, we were able to demonstrate that glass is class, the biggest gathering ever of this marque-- 12 vans and we hope it keeps growing. Cheers Boblor

Hi Boblor Did you manage to catch up with the old couple in the Olympic who where camped opposite the camp kitchen?? They weren't part of the gathering and where there when i arrived Thursday lunchtime. When i told them that there was a heap of Olympics coming they said they would stay on an extra day to have a look. I am sure they said they had owned a 21ft Olympic at some stage. :: Blokes name was Darcy.. cant remember the ladys name... Reddo

Hi Reddo Pam and Darcy came to see us soon after we arrived on Friday. We were aware of them and their van but had never met, but we know Pam's brothers who both know class and own Olympics each. In fact Pam's brother Greg was the first Olympic owner we spoke to on a trip back WA in Orroroo in SA jn May 2000 months before we became Olympic owners. Pam and Darcy's van was a little different with the front kitchen ,corner dining and one single and a pair of bunk beds at the rear. They are keen to attend again and perhaps the family will turn up with three Olympics, who knows we could have a fleet of Olympics at next years meet. Cheers Boblor

Hi All, Not sure if you spotted it already, but there is a photo essay about the event on the Caravan World Website. It's at www.caravanworld.com.au/news-and-reviews/article/articleid/55449.aspx. Underneath that, it mentions that the next issue of Caravan World (due on 14 April) will have special feature on wooden vintage caravans. And there is a link to an article about a Sunliner. Just do a google for “Maroochydore +vintage caravans” and you will get half dozen links... not counting the “Caravan World” one, and I've come across mention of it in a couple of other places. The promotion of this event, and vintage caravans, was top draw... well done Rod Cobber.
