Hi everyone
I came across your site last night and thoroughly enjoyed looking at your caravans and cars. We are classic car enthusiasts and have ourselves a bit of a collection, so as you all know one thing leads to another and we came across an old caravan which was neglected on a property. Lucky for me the gentleman sold his van to me and I have started to restore the old girl to some form of former glory. He told me it was a 1952 or 1953 model, it has a single layer of fibreglass with curved windows at the front right and left sides. I do not know what brand my van is and was wondering if anyone out there might have an idea. I saw one which was similar at the Wintersun Festival this year and the owners said theirs was a 1952/53 model by a New Zealand manufacturer. My van is about 14 ft long, has an ice box (not a fridge).
Regards Sheryl PS How do I insert a picture?[

Hi Sheryl, Welcome to the Vintage Caravans forum. Nice to see your van and good to hear about another treasure saved from an ignominious end! There are quite a few people on the forum who know a lot about fibreglass vans - not me though - so I'm sure that one of them will be able to help you identify it. Some of the V V'ers have done some fantastic work renovating and/or rehabilitating fibreglass vans. Jailbarjuice's work on his van has inspired many of us: vintagecaravans.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=1114949163I'm looking forward to following your progress with your van. Good luck with it. Don Ricardo

Hi Sheryl, To reiterate Don, welcome! Great to see another van saved from the elements. With some hard work you will have a great van! From the photo here (and in members pics) I would say it looks alot like a Sunliner. There are some experts here on fibreglass vans & sunliners (I am not one of them) that will agree, or say I am on something ;D Good luck with the resto. If you do a search here on the site using 'sunliner' as key word you will probably find a lot of photos to help you. Cheers, Gristy PS. what cars do you have in the stable??

Yep it looks like a Kennedy. Thank you all so much for your input. I have been using a heat gun and sanding to remove the old paint from the outside and she will be ready to paint soon. I have already made the curtains in a red and white checked gingham and have had the seats and bed cushions redone in red upholstery with gold buttons and gold piping. We are rock n rollers and I thought that this look would go with the era!! I live in the Coffs Harbour area and have a red (what other colour is there) 1970 Mustang convertable. There are other cars that we have but they are european and the van will not look her best being towed by one of these.
I will post some more photos soon as I have found great pleasure in looking at all of your photos.
Thanks again for your help and will talk to you soon.
Shez

A shot from the side will show it could be a Kennedy.......definately not a Sunliner though....and not a Kiwi (would need bigger windows). C,mon lets see a side on shot. Humpty

Great to see yet another Kennedy owner, and would love to see a rear shot , as some models had rear fins [we have one], can't wait to see some photo's of the finished van!

I seem to be spending a lot of time looking at all the interesting vvans and conversations you all have. Can anyone tell me, now that we think my van is a "Kennedy", what year it might be and where I can find any numbers or ID. Is there any info out there on these vans? Thanks
