Hi everyone, It's a while since we had a guessing competition on the forum, so I figured that it was time for another. The competition involves guessing the purpose of the following piece of camping equipment: The piece of equipment has a dual purpose, and to win the competition you will need to name both the primary and the secondary purpose. If someone correctly guesses one of the purposes I will tell you, then you will only need to work out the other purpose. I'm not sure that it will help you, but the piece of equipment is at least 50 years old, and quite probably between 60 and 70 years old. The prize for the first person to correctly guess both purposes of the equipment will be a fantastic 2009 Vintage Caravan Calendar. If the winner already has a calendar, then a donation of $20 will be made in lieu to the Apex project for which funds were collected at Coledale or the winner's favourite charity (their choice). I will add an additional photo every couple of days until there is a competition winner. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think the object is. There is probably a smarty pants out there who will get it first go!! ;D ;D ;D But let's see... Don Ricardo

OK Cobber you're very close for one of the purposes, but I need to know where one might use the object.

Well..... ya just put it on the ground, or on the sand, and sit on it.... after taking your towel out of it 'cause it is a carry bag as well.
Cobber.

OK Cobber has named both purposes and is the winner of the shortest lived guessing competition on the V V forum. ;D ;D ;D It's a combined beach chair and beach bag, made well before they started producing the modern aluminium or steel tube beach chairs: I bet you've seen one of these before, haven't you Cobber? I thought the beach chair might keep people guessing for a day or two, but not when I am in such clever company!! Honourable mentions must go to Dave who worked out the basic purpose, and to Ivan who was close to getting to 'the bottom' of things as well. This beach chair has lived in the bottom of the bath in our van for ever. I can remember it being there from when I was a small child, which is why I know it is at least 50 years old, but I have a hunch that my parents had it before they bought the van, which would make it 60+ years old. I will PM Cobber about the prize. Don Ricardo

G'day Don R. I do have a couple of the cheap plastic imitations of that gorgeous original version. Looks like you are stuck with that extra copy of the 2009 Vintage Caravan calendar.... unless somebody who has missed out would like to buy it from you . Can I suggest you donate the $20 to the "Vintage Caravan restorers anonymous" or "The pipe smokers benevolent society" OK... I'll PM you with another suggestion. Cobber.
