hi Santa, It was 52chevygirl that told me about the forum & website at a Yamba rod run a few years back, when I was admiring their Sunliner. thru that, I joined, then found my Sunliner in Newcastle, thanks to humpty I think. To All, I found my second van, Groovin, in newcastle, again thanks to Humpty. I can now go to pretty well any part of australia & meet people I've come across thru this Forum. We were stuck in lunchtime bumper to bumper traffic with the Sunliner behind an overheating Dodge, in Dandenong,on a very hot day just before Easter, with Boots about to pull the pin & go to her daughters & not Mt Gambier, when this guy pulled up alongside & started talking to us. It was Brett, Skyline 59. He helped us out of the traffic & took the time to drive us in his car to where I was going. How could those sort of things happen without something like this Forum You guys that are talking about starting you're own forum, & trying to white ant Mark, just go & do your own thing. Leave the rest of us that aren't interested in your ego trip to decide what we want to do. Who knows, if you get your own thing going, I might consider joining it as well. Depends on how I feel at the time. I know I've just offended a couple of people I like to call friends, but so be it. But dont destroy what a hell of a lot of us really enjoy on a daily basis. G'day Mark and Jenni, I think you would be aware that you have my full support in whatever you propose doing to preserve and improve this “Vintage Caravan” forum . It has also been made abundantly clear by the great majority of posts today that you enjoy the confidence of those members that you will do what is best for the long term future of the forum and the vintage caravan movement in Australia. It is also clear that you enjoy the respect and gratitude of most of us for making it possible for us to meet, and communicate, and form friendships with others who share the passion to rescue and restore, and enjoy using a part of Australia's touring heritage........ caravans. Without your initiative in starting this forum none of it would be happening. I for one would still be plodding around in “Driftwood” on my Pat Malone wondering why the rest of the country wasn't catching on to how much fun it is drinking warm milk and cooking on a metho stove. I look forward to the return of the forum on the 25th July. In the mean time... stay calm. Best wishes, Cobber.

Hi Mark and Jenni,
Rarely do I contribute to this forum as I prefer to enjoy reading the posts from our regular colourful contributors and also the new members coming on line with their latest acquisition to enjoy the V Vanning movement.
When I logged on today and saw that the forum was closing down as a result of personal attacks on the founder, of what is essentially a one off site that the majority of the population would consider an odditiy in the caravanning scene is an absolute shame.
This forum has been responsible for bringing together a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds australia wide who enjoy just one thing, sharing a commom interest in vintage vanning. The use of personal derogatory remarks in Mark's opening post recieved from some of the members is unacceptable, un -Australian and just not in the spirit of the movement.
I hope the forum returns on the 25th and whatever issues some members have can be buried once and for all for the well being of this site, if this is not the case, I wish Mark and Jenni health and happiness for the future and thank them for allowing me to share their passion.
regards HKnut

Hi Mark and Jenni, I just want to underline what a lot of others have said so well. This is a great forum which has provided a lot of enjoyment, inspiration and encouragement to many, including me. Having literally grown up alongside our faithful old van, I feel like I have been waiting most of my life for the forum to come along. When my wife and I bought the van from my mother, my father-in-law warned me that people would laugh at us traveling around in 'that old thing'. Nobody ever has - at least not to our faces - but it was a great day for me four years ago when I found that there were other people out there who enjoyed vintage vanning as much as us...a lot of other people as it has turned out! You have my support in administering the forum, and in deciding to put it into maintenance mode for a period. The forum won't run itself, and somebody has to take the responsibility for ensuring that it runs smoothly (and legally!), as well as making judgement calls when 'the line gets crossed' from time to time. I am looking forward to the forum coming back bigger and better on the 25th after a bit of R & R. Thanks to you both for all your efforts, which are appreciated by an awful lot of people. Don Ricardo

Mark & Jenni.
This Forum has opened a whole new world to me, & I need an interest like this having retired from a rigorous work life, this is the best therapy at this stage of life.
I have searched my shed & found about 20 more slides featuring the 'Don' & the Customline that towed it, & look foreward to sharing these with everyone.
So, best wishes on a top, new, Forum. You do a great job.
Thanks, rhumphrey2

Mark I have been offline a few weeks and just read your comments. Classic Car Magazine "Leaded" has just gone online with the story I did on the Mooloolaba weekend in February. You have 100% support from Leaded Magazine as this was one of the most enjoyable weekends I have ever had- all because of the forum.
As we sort our own situation with the magazine and launch Leaded TV onto the internet the Vintage Caravan forum and group activities will be one of our highlights plus in 2009 I will be a regular starter on many of the Queensland events. Rod G.

Mark & Jenni, great to see you back. Many of your members are also members over at our Forum (Ozrodders) and we share many common goals. Many Hotrodders also have Vintage Vans, me included! I know only too well how Forums can take over your life and sometimes cause grief! At times I have forgotten that it has also created lasting friendships and some great times, but as one who understands more than most I would ask all other members to trust in Marks' judgement and accept his decisions. I can assure you all it can be difficult editing or deleting posts, especially when they are made by friends but it is never done lightly or with malice. These forums simply would not exist without someone putting in the work, the time, the money and the hard yards to get it going in the first place. I have also been called a 'nazi' by some on our forum who seem to believe that 'free speech' means 'free for all'.
To those who haven't agreed with decisions just take it on the chin and move on. The admins and mods do what they do in the best interests of the Forum, it is NOT personal and should never be taken that way. To do so and cease a friendship is terribly sad and misguided and deserves a severe rethink. There are times when you have to agree to disagree and move on. If you would like some first hand advice about how bloody hard it can be running a forum then PM me with your query! This forum was nearly lost forever, don't let that happen again. Oh and for the record I don't know Mark and have never met him (though we have spoken recently on the phone) but I sure as hell can sympathise! Anyway I am going to need some advice to restore my Sunliner soon so you buggers better behave!
