Time to fess up - it was us who bought the 99cent van on eBay ;D ;D ;D. Maurie you get the lollipop for guessing correctly. I took one look at her & was on the phone to the owners & bought it in about 5 minutes & then thought , what have I got us into ( or should I say Geoff). The owner assured me she doesn't leak as he stores a lot of electrical gear in her. It does look good on the inside, but the holes in the walls??? can't see how it isn't a total wreck. We went over on Saturday to have a look & just about decided the only kind thing to do was put her out of her misery ( after cannabilising her for future resto's). After talking about it we have decided to try & get her out in one piece & that is going to be very tricky, where she is has no direct access and the trees have grown quite a bit in the last 5 years. Will be a very interesting rescue & we hope worth it. Some pics of her: Her present spot Who needs air con What used to be a barn door It's even got spats, now that's classy At least the screen door is in good nick Cool water pump (not sure if it works) Original Venetians We left out the photo's of the rot - not enough room to fit them all in. Ok we are probably nuts, but believe she will come up a treat one day - just need to find a place to keep her for the moment Jude & Geoff ps will bring it to munmorah if it's resto is completed by then. (ha ha)

Hi Geoff & Jude Would be nice if it could get restored - would look pretty special. Interior looks tidier than expected after seeing the outside & nice tap at the sink..
The builder of the van must of been very clever o have it not leak even with a broken window & another hanging half off - pity manufacturers aren't that clever today.
Good luck with the retrieval & potential restoration Neil & Cheryl

Hi geoff'n'Jude,
After looking at those pics my advice - get a chainsaw.
For the trees! NOT the van....
Looks like you will have a story to tell about the retrieval, and then the restoration.
Hope it all goes well. Cheers,
gristy

Hi Gristy,
Believe me, did think about taking a chainsaw - sadly more for the van than the trees. Don't think the owners want their trees chopped down.
Probably won't attempt the rescue till the July school hols when Geoff has more time.
Think we might need a video camera - I have a feeling we might have a few "Funniest Home Videos" moments

Hi Neil & Cheryl,
Thanks , think we will need lots of luck getting her out.
We came very close to leaving it, but it is really a nice little van & well worth a shot at rescuing.
The inside is surprisingly good all things considered.
Time will tell how it all ends

Jude & Geoff, It looks like one of you..... or both of you, are suckers for a bargain. Knowing you desperately lust after a nice plywood to play with in your retirement, I might tempt you with another one next week so don't rush into things................ don't you hate it when people say things like that Cobber. PS Check your PM.

Hi geoff & no2 girl,
Thats a great old van, well worthy of saving. Brush away the vegetation, take out the broken windows & throw away the 3 ply spats, its not bad. Rot is relatively easily fixed.
I've gotten hooked on working with timber. I bought a few proper tools ( cause I cant weld wood, they stopped making Woodcraft rods).
The best I bought was a Ryobi work/saw table, with fully adjustable saw. I use it nearly every time I work on Lucille. I make all the sections I need from cheap 3x2 pine from Bunnings. lots cheaper than buying from the shops sized to suit.
go for it, its better than playing around on the computer.

Well it's time for an update on Pinky!!! She has been sitting waiting patiently to be rescued & after much deliberation a plan finally came together to go fetch her this Saturday. Four wheel drive with winch -check Car trailer booked - check Various rolls of rope, tape ect - check Tarps to wrap her in - check. Then Friday disaster struck - Geoff had a massive heart attack & is now recovering in hospital. They rushed him into surgery & Friday night was touch & go, but he made it. I may sound a bit flippant, but it was the scariest thing, we very nearly lost him, but his prognosis is now good. I told him it was a lousy way of getting out of bringing Pinky home, he just had to say something. He will be well again soon & you know the only thing he is worried about -he doesn't want to miss Coledale (which he won't) Priorities Jude Gotta go back to the hospital, just came home for an hour or so to do some chores, will update you all later

All the very best for a speedy recovery. I, myself am in my 15th month of recovery (3 attacks/quad bypass) and only just returned to work last week. The longer than normal delay was a prob in the leg. And i just did 70 hours work. The zipper/heart op worked out brilliantly. If i may say so, use that puffer contraption the rehab crew gives you. Best Wishes.
