Hey everyone, look out for flying "mexican" vans. We are currently experiencing horrendous storms with winds of 130kph+ with many areas of the city and workplaces (like mine) being evacuated... P.s If anyone sees an immaculately restored Don van, its mine... Cheers Chris

I always said that corner of Australia was full of flatulence. Too many Mexican Chilli Beans . We got blown all over the road by 40 knot Nor westers on the way across to Colac and Warnamwatzit on the way to Mt Gambier. I see they had wind gusts of up to 120kphover that way today. Thank god we weren't battling through that the other week. Hope all is well . Reddo

Howdy Everyone,
For the most part, the bean flatulance (as Reddo put it) has passed. It was truly a weird experience as the winds reached hurricane speeds. My entire collection was moved out into the middle of our larger paddock away from the trees as I managed to get home just after a large gum branch came down on our greenhouse/shed. (only minor damage) The "shed" is an extension of the greenhouse (commercial size) and where all my cars live, along with the Minicamper and modern camper. Considering that my place's boundary is all planted with 80yr old + pines and cypress we got off very lucky. The only car i couldn't move was one of my T model's (the one becoming a camper) because it is partially dismantled. It happens to live in a caravan port that on windy days, has a massive pine push on its back wall as the tree moves. The "Skanky van" as it is known (the bondy CRB shown on previous posts), is sitting partly under the offending branch dropping gum and came out completely unscathed... ;D
If you didn't see us on the news last night, it really was an amazing time with widespread damage and a huge dust storm as well.
Reddo, its always that windy down that way, that's why they call Warrnambool the windy city on the Shipwreck coast. Not sure if any of you saw the footage of the yatchs getting ripped off their moorings and thrown on the beach? That was Mornington, only a few minutes from me. That beach is lucky to get waves big enough to wet your ankles normally...
Still, I'm about as far from religious as you can get, but let us all pray that no VV's were damaged in the storm (especially all those undiscovered ones sitting under trees)
Gristy, last i heard it was all heading your way, trust you're still in Traralgon and not blown down to Lakes Entrance by now?
Cheers Chris

Well down here in the deep sth of Mexico, on a little island coupla hundred k's south we had the very same HURRICANE, one suburb of Hobart recorded a 176 kmh wind gust at 4am today, like MC it was pretty worrying, but luckily Dorothea and the rest of the family came thru unscathed, but many rds were closed and our power went off at 2am and was finally restored at midday, i have never experienced wind like it before as it blew solid for 5 hrs with no let up, and because we are on tank water, means electric pump for water, means no toilet,no shower till midday!! But we made it....... just!

Yo Atog " Reddo You've got to do something about that date stamp I'm always thinking "This guy is using old photos"
Atog"
I usually take the batteries out of the camera to charge them. When i replace them it usually asks me to reset the date. Some times it dont and reverts back to something like the 1/1/2004.
I dont really care too much.. it keeps every body guessing and it certainly makes the ebay bidders tune in and ask questions about what sorta condition is the item in now that it is 2008. I should be more dillyj... dilligru....... dilligene... I should be on the ball when i put the batteries in.
Naaa all of the above is a lie... I organised a pretend flood on the 2/1/2004. Only joint that got flooded was mine.... Wife says i have gotta knock off with the practical jokes.

In the '74 floods up here in Bris, mum and dad lived about 60feet above this little creek you could jump over. Water up to the ceiling on their highset house. Walls were made of masonite!! All we could do was shovel the brown shitty looking walls out of the house. Eventually it was re-lined in fibro, and, of course no flooding since then!! Some incredible weather patterns happening down there in the south. What was the brown gunky rain caused by, Col?? Glad to here you all are OK, and that's what really matters. Sounds like some were not as fortunate. Ray

Out here in the hills of Mexico we did okay, like Col said looked a bit like a mulcher had been runnin flat strap, but we get that occassionally anyway. I think Melbourne really copped the worst of it. Lucky really, coz the Viscount sits under some really large Gum trees on the edge of our property. Frankie was safely under the carport where all good bondy/ally hybrids should be. Didn't get the dust storm either, that must've blown into melbun from the west? Cheers, gristy

Thankd f/f I saw that happen in Adelaide, but not while I lived in Melbourne. Too bad about all those people with rainwater tanks and without a first-flush system on them - would have ended up with half a tank of mud! Ray
