Searching thru more of my grandfathers photos last night and found some goodies .Amongst them were labelled and dated photos featuring a wildeshott VV at Bobbin Head -1939. The others are photos of Nomad VV's (guess they were'nt then!) under construction in the factory-1939. I asked my mum - the wildeshott doesn't ring any bells at all, but she says she definitely remembers the Nomad brand and thinks she might have visited the factory with her dad in Sydney. ??! I will put up a disclaimer here that she has moderate alzheimers but as a rule she's good on long term memory. It's 5 minutes ago that's a washout!!! I sent a note to donricardo so I presume he is already on the trail but I thought I'd throw it up here for help/discussion. regards jeff

Jeff, You have some great caravan history in your hands there mate and I'm sorry to say I can't find anything that's helpful at the moment.
Any chance of posting those photos in the "Down History Lane" section ? I've added a bit more on Jennisons in that thread.

Hey Bob, Thanks for bringing that to light....... I never twigged to the possibility of a connection between the English (American) and the Australian Nomad There was a fair bit of discussion and more photos of the Nomad on that site @ www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.phpp?t=3532will be interesting to hear from Jeff if it is the same Nomad eh? Bob, Cobber can't tell from my photo it's only tiny with framework in the b/ground. My cousin has more and I will have them in the next couple of weeks. I do know JAJ never went to UK/US so maybe someone tried to make them under licence in Sydney. My cousin has a photo of a wildeshott with a Mrs Cole labelled as standing in front of it whether she and her husband owned the van, imported the van or owned the company that made them I would'nt know but the writing on the back of the photo is printed/typed apparently, though that probably means nothing. Bob , I haven't forgotten the jeep....sorry Jeff

I have been in contact with the research dept of the National Maritime Museum. I have given them the story re the wildeshott coming off the Zealandia on 8/2/39. They are going to see what they can find on passenger and cargo manifests on the Coles and their Wildeshott. The lady was very interested and is going to check the photos on the site out. Jeff

The Nat maritime museum have confirmed that the zealandia was on the Sydney/Hobart run, docking in Sydney on 6/2/39 from Tasmania. Check Wildershott in the history section.
