Hi folks our Prattline van could be about 40years old the fridge, a Chescold C100 3 way, needs a bit of attention on the gas side.
I am having difficulty figuring out how to get at the back of the fridge. The outer skin of the van is surrounded by rails around it's middle where the top half of the van sits down during towing. The ventilation grill is behind the rail.
Is it possible to remove the fridge from the cupboard bringing it into the van for servicing?
thanks Mark

>......... .. .. . hmm not many comments to guide me... so I took said rails off the side of the van, took the vent grills off and accessed the back of the fridge. Initial inspection showed just a bit of dust, no evidence of soot, around the gas area. Vacumed the dust out then undid the screws and gas joints to remove the burner for closer attention. It didnt seem to need cleaning but I went through the motions and re-assembled the gas gear. Soap tested the joints. Followed the instructions inside the door to light the fridge. All worked very well. so re-assembled the van. Further tests showed gas working fine. six months down the track after using fridge happily on 240v and 12v we had need to light up gas again but couldnt get it to fire up at camp. We are not certain of which direction to rotate the thermostat to get the strongest cooling. Instructions say to turn thermostat to max when starting the fridge but is max temp the biggest number?. This may affect getting the main burner to start ?
