Hi everyone! New to forums, new to this one! Unable to upload photos from my phone to here but wondering if anyone had any say 1986 ish photos of coronet vans they could post for me to compare? I acquired one recently and I would love to identify it (can’t find anything similar through google), and work out if I restore this beauty to its former glory or do a modern fit out due to insignificance... Thanks in advance!

Hi OP. This site is probably unhelpful for your van. This is a vintage (1970 and before) site.

Hi Nicky, you need to use a photo host such as Flikr or Postimage. Meanwhile, have a search on our sister forum Classic Caravans for post 1970 caravans. ditzygypsy.proboards.com/

G'day nickyoo, and welcome to the forum!😁 Coronet closed down in 1978, so your van will be 1978 or earlier. Yes, pop over to our sister forum for caravans built from 1970 to 1980, and you'll get some helpful info there. Cheers. Al.

Hi Nickyoo, A couple of people have given you useful info, including pointing you to the Classic Caravans forum. That’s a good idea, but it’s also possible that your van is in fact a 1960’s Coronet. You said that your van is a ‘Coronet Princes’. I’m not sure whether you mean a Prince or Princess? Coronet produced models under both names from the late 1960’s on, and while I gather you have the impression that your van was produced in the 80’s, it’s quite possible that it was in fact built as far back as the 60’s. We have had lots of examples on the forum of vans being sold as a certain date, when they were actually much older than that. Anyway, where I’m heading with all this is to ask whether you’ve had a look at the Coronet history thread in the ‘Down History Lane’ section of this forum? You’ll find it by clicking here. There are some photos of late 60’s and very early 70’s Coronet Prince and Princess models there which may help you identify your van. Also, there are instructions on how to post photos in the ‘Forum Guidelines & Helpful Hints’ section of the forum. Alternatively, if you email photos of your van to me, I’ll be happy to post them on the forum for you. We can then see if we can help you date your van and/or provide other advice about restoring or modernising. My email address is: caravanhistory@gmail.com Hope some of that helps Nickyoo. Don Ricardo

Hi everyone - a new member here with a tiny Coronet Prince - drawbar says 3 8310. Given what others have said, this means it is an October 1983 drop. However, given it's shape and interior details I feel it was made much earlier and perhaps first sold in 1983.
That's my guess based on my vintage Cabana made in the 70s but in storage until first sold in the 80s.

Hi Ozchic, The original Corornet company closed in 1979,then the name was sold to another caravan company and they were sold as Corornet and Newlands, same vans, different stickers! Then Andrew Phillips bought the name and they are still being made today,so if you can put up a photo it should tell us the exact year and model you have. Cheers hughdeany

Thanks hughdeany - I saw that bit of history earlier. I took myself off to load the recommended postimage - will try now to load an image .. nope .. can't work it out how to get from postimage to proboards!

Hi ozchic, Thanks for photo, your van looks to be from 1971-74. Hope this helps, Cheers hughdeany Thankyou - it has a Coronet Prince sticker on the door side. The windows and shape are a tad different to anything else I have found. And the drawbar numbers suggest 1983. I'm not fussed either way and hope it is 70s rather than 80s so I don't get booted to the playpen for classics!

Hi ozchic, Chassis number doesn’t necessarily mean year, they are just random production numbers. If you walk through any caravan park you will see hundreds of Coronets of that shape and era.Prince was just a model name, and is still used today in the current Coronet. Cheers hughdeany

I’ve been told mine is a 1978 Coronet Princess- must have been ons of the last ones made if it is. From the other old ads I’ve seen on here it seems the Princess model was actually more likely a 1968? Mines been cosmetically refurbished (unfortunately as a 1950s diner) but it’s still all original cabinetry.

Hi vickyvanning, Your van is a 1968 Coronet, but the all woodgrain interior has been painted over. Yours was the first model to have woodgrain walls and cupboard doors to go with the white aluminium, after that took over from silver aluminium. The silver models had painted walls and woodgrain cupboard doors. It also has the Coronet door and windows, made in the Coronet factory at the time ( most other manufacturers were buying in doors and windows from outside) Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany
