Hi, Looking to update our 2017 GPS micro card in our 200 Series Landcruiser, for a reasonable price. Google suggests various options, mostly undesirable!! Any info appreciated. Cheers Mustang

Appears the micro chip is a protected part, so I have ressurected an older $150.00 Navman that has lifetime maps. A 200 series at $90K does not have free upgrades?

Hi Mustang, I have found the maps in my 200 series to be very un user friendly. Difficult to use, can't touch it if vehicle is moving, hugely expensive to update, no aux plug etc etc. The amount of times I have done something to it & cannot get it back to where it's supposed to be is laughable. I only use it for the radio & even that is pretty rubbish. I have my trusty Mrs G (Garmin) mounted on the dash with voice command & free updates.

I have found the Google Maps app on my mobile phone to be a very good alternative to the traditional Tomtom/Garmin/Navman units. As long as I've got phone coverage, and data allowance, the Google Maps system has guided me successfully through a number of travelling trips lately.
The latest upgrade includes fixed speed camera notifications, as well as vehicle speed indication on the screen.
The next upgrade release for Australia will enable street view with an overlay map to guide you when exploring on foot.
cheers, Al.

Hi Al, did you know you can pre load maps for when there is no phone service? They are not quite as detailed but can be very useful. We did this when we went to Canada & toured in a motorhome.
