Lyn & I have just bought another caravan to restore. This one is 10feet 2inches long (to be confirmed) and it has absolutely no identifying marks, names or numbers on it. It appears a little unusual with having the front wrap around windows narrow side to the front with a filled panel to the front centre window. The internal side overhead cupboards have sliding doors and the front has open shelves which do not go right across. I believe the rear has a divan type pullout bed. All aluminiun clad with opening panel in the door for fly screen. We were originally told it was a Coronet (so did a bit of research on Coronet and will put it in the History Lane Coronet page), but are unable to confirm.
The sticker on the front is Fyans St Caravans South Geelong which is presumably a caravan retailer. We haven't found any photos on line or in books to match the style of the caravan. Any advice (apart from burn it) iwill be appreciated. Mike & Lyn.
As bought 12 July 2019 Emptied out Kitchen side Robe & door side Dining Temporary assembly 1 Temporary assembly 2

Hi Mike and Lyn, Going by the cupboard doors and colours, and the use of wrap around windows and little wheels I reckon it’s a Sandrover, built in Mordialloc in Bayside Melbourne. They often played around with windows and shapes but all had small wheels. The cupboard woodgrain and top sliders are also very Sandrover. Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany.
Ps,that’s a job and a half ahead of you there!

Hi Mike & Lyn and Hugndeany, That’s a fascinating little van you’ve found Mike & Lyn, and the identification Hughdeany has suggested is really interesting. We haven’t seen any other Sandrovers on the forum like that one, but as Hughdeany says the van has a number of Sandrover like features. I am particularly interested in the wrap around corner windows at the front. The shape and design are identical to the ones you can see on some other little Sandrovers....except that on the others, those windows are at the rear of the van, and the long side of the window is on the back of the van, meeting the central opening window, like on this one: [/quote] And this one: So as you say, Hughdeany, they did play around with windows and shapes! While we are at it...Hughdeany, have we ever discussed whether there was any link between Sandrover and Bluebird, as suggested by the heading on the above article from the 1967 Winser? Or is it just a ‘Keith Winser typo’? Don Ricardo

Hi Don Ricardo, I haven’t a clue if Bluebird made the first Sandrovers, maybe they did then started out on their own just making Sandrovers. Another sleuthing job for you! Although it doesn’t look like the Bluebirds I have seen. Cheers hughdeany

Still have no idea what it is, so we shall get it restored and see what happens. I am very inclined to think it may be a home built caravan. Mike

Well, we still don't know for sure what it is, but 2 years and 2 months later, all 10' 6" of IT IS FINISHED. We have painted the inside because some of the sheeting had to be replaced, in fact 2/3's of the roof and all of the robe are the only sheets we didn't replace. Added a pantry into the side of the robe too (you can see it inside the door). We had the curtains/drapes printed by nextstateprint.com down Melbourne way to our choice of pattern. We recommend them. Hope to see some of you around the caravan parks over the next few months. Mike & Lyn.

Congratulations Mike & Lyn. The little van looks great.
Looking back over the thread just shows how much work you’ve put into it. Now for the reward - some fun times away in it.

Thank you for the advice team. We are looking forward to using it. I think the Furness might have to go soon, not enough space to keep both of them. Mike.
