Does anyone have any knowledge of Dunford solid state shock absorbers. I removed a set of these when I replaced the spring hangers and axle in my Roadhaven. I would like to re install them, but first I would like to know how to check them see if they still serviceable.
Thanks Warren

Gday Warren
I have just taken off a pair of Dunford solid state shock absorbers from my 1980s Avon dale (Jayco) pop top caravan. I to am in a bit of a quandary about them. I have manually tried to put them under pressure but they remain wherever i set it. I know they are to be under load but not sure if they are to spring back or too re-set. The nut is welded to the bolt so I cannot undo it. You posted in May, any luck ?

I don't think there much you can do to these shocks. The ones I have can't be moved by hand, which means they are ok or seized. Currently the shocks are not fitted and the caravan rides smoothly. I have also looked at putting hydraulic shock absorbers on which means a bit of welding on the chassis.
