Hi, I had a look at a home built caravan today and I was surprised it had a wooden draw bar .. would it be legal? Thanks

My teardrop had a skinny timber tow rail shrouded in ugly angle added to & modified through the years.(pics in DHL/Teardrops) It also had angle supports welded to it & bolted underneath onto the timber chassis rails. The steel weighed a ton.The rail was all but rotted through. I elected to run a new 12` length from rear to front at 4" square.I then slipped 3` length of channel over it (from hitch) & welded a 2"x 2" x 3/8" angle each side & bolted under using the existing holes. It will never break, buckle or bend.Having said that regs differ from state to state & it maybe possible for you to use as such being original fitment & rego on Special Interest/Historic plates.
