Hi everyone i have a 50s bondwood which im renovating the flyscreens are fixed to the frame & are in mostly good condition but have surface rust i have tried wire brushing but needs more not sure if they are brass do i replace them? Or just put up with the brown shades & if i replace where do I find decent flywire?

It is possible that the flywire is bronze. Have you tried rubbing with steel wool? If it is surface rust you have cleaned off, then it wouldn't be bronze. But it could also just be an accumulation of dirt from over the years. The big green shed has a whole range of flywire, up to and including bronze. The bronze stuff comes in door sized precut packaging and costs around $90 for about 2 metres, I did my last van using bronze and it looked pretty schmick. But if what you've got is OK, why replace it?

Hi Probably a bit late to add my say but I just made up some 50s flywire window. I bought the aluminium flywire from Bunnnings which was black but I sprayed it an aluminium colour
