Hi Al, Excuse my ignorance, but the first step to my carapark restoration is a tyre change. Cannot for the life of me work out how to fit the wheel between the hub and body. Is a 650r16 tyre, same size I removed. HELP PLEASE!

Hi Matthew,
I have not worked on one of these but I assume you are jacking it up under the axle. Try jacking it up on the chassis, this should allow the axle to drop down and give you more clearance between the body and the axle.

If you have the jack under the axle, you will restrict the amount of room. Use the chassis as the jacking point and the axle should drop down to allow the wheel to be fitted.

Cheers, Jack is under the body. Fair bit of rust on the springs, not sure if that could inhibit the Axel dropping. Cannot work it out.

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated..... An extra pair of hands and a lot of wriggling & pushing finally got it into place... Something awry though! Can anybody tell me correct/original tyre size for carapark 12'9"?

Maybe the original tyres were cross ply which are taller but narrower than radial tyres which you are probably trying to fit. Sometimes you need to deflate the tyre before fitting the wheel on the van and then reinflate it.
