SANDHURST CARAVANSPossibly connected to Hume & Iser Caravans, High Street, Bendigo Vic Photos of a Sandhurst branded caravan posted by Deanc here on 23 & 24 June 2018: On 25 June 2018, Hughdeany commented:Hi Dean c, Your van looks like a Wayfarer, going by the window hardware, the shape and especially the end of your kitchen where there is a cupboard beside and behind the stove with the hidden cupboard door and the general hardware. These vans were also sold as Viscount and others at some stage, and now Sandhurst by the look of it! Great little van that will come up a treat with a little bit of work. Cheers hughdeany
Note that Sandhurst was the official name of the township surveyed in 1854 on the Bendigo goldfields. The name was changed to Bendigo in 1891, but 'Sandhurst' continues to be used as a name for various institutions and local businesses in the Bendigo area. This strongly suggests that 'Sandhurst Caravans' were sold by a business located in Bendigo. Hume & Iser is now a Mitre10 timber and hardware business in Bendigo. Further photos of Deanc's van can be seen via the link provided above. Don Ricardo
