G'day Bert66, That's an interesting little van, eh? Certainly looks like a 30's era van, but I'd like to know the basis on which the seller has identified it as a UK Winchester Imp. The van looks very different to the green van used for reference purposes - and that one apparently is a Winchester Imp. There are so many differences in the styling and fittings between the two vans, that it seems fairly unlikely that they are both examples of the same model caravan, given the information that only four were built. In addition the green van has a number of brass plaques on it that state its origins, but I can't see any sign of similar plaques on the Ebuy van. The design etched on the windows of the Ebuy van might be a 'W' for Winchester, but it could also just be an Art Deco style decoration. In any case it is different to the Winchester logo which appears at the corner of some of the photos of the green caravan. Anyway, that's my thinking. What are your thoughts? In some respects the Ebuy van reminds me of some of the pre-WWII Land Cruisers, but we don't have examples of any Land Cruisers that look like the Ebuy van, so I am probably just stabbing in the dark. Intriguingly the green van seems to have a door on each side, unusual for such a small van. There are more pics of that van here. Don Ricardo

For mine I wasn't convinced about the English connection - couldn't see why anyone would put it on a ship to Australia. Interesting little van nevertheless - for historical interest only I'd suggest. It's different in many respects to the English Imp. Given it seems to have only one door, that would be on the wrong side to be English would it not? I was however really interested in the two door English model of the Green one ( Imp?) - thanks for the extra link and photos. Hope all is well! Speaking of which and Green, I'm sure Jenny and Max won't mind me saying that Mad Max is very much better and looking forward to seeing us all in Anglesea. They are currently holidaying in WA with grandkids.

Hey Don R. The little van was on ebay last week and the guy was fishing for the make of the van. I replied with home made possibly in South Australia going by the roof line, and he was very stern in his reply that it wasnt home made so I left him to it. Cheers.

Hi Vantoura, Interesting to hear about your interaction with the seller. I can't quite work out how he's latched on to the idea that it's a Winchester Imp. His van is so different to the Winchester in sooooo many ways, most obviously the basic shape. All the same the Ebuy van is a really interesting little jigger and I'm sure would have an interesting story to tell if it could talk! For those who want to see what we're talking about click here.
