G'day 2sneezles,
If nobody comes forward with an actual weight for you, the approximate tare weight can be calculated by multiplying the cabin length (in feet) by 52kgs.
A 12ft cabin length X 52kgs = 624kgs tare weight (approx).
cheers, Al.

Hi 2sneezles,
The 1962 Winser caravan manual shows several different Globe(trotter) 12 ft models, and lists one as being 11 cwt (559 kgs) and the other as 11 1/2 cwt (584 kgs).
I don't know which model you have, nor what changes there were to the Globe lineup between 1962 and 1964, however the figures I've given you are not far off what Franklin1 has calculated. I'm guessing that your van would weigh less than 750 kgs, but the figures Franklin1 and I have come up with are the tare/unladen weights, so you'd need to take the additional weight of water, gas and personal belongings into account in considering whether you need brakes.
Hope that helps a little. Sounds like you may need a visit to a weigh station?

Thanks Don. We have decided to put brakes on anyway. As some time down the track we will sell it and we like it to be safe. In SA we don’t need them but if it goes to an interstate person it’s better Regards 2 sneezles
