Hi Everyone,
I'v just been offered this old caravan from a barn for £800,, it's been in dry storage since the 1960's and I have been told the caravan dates to the late 1920's /early 30's, there is no makers name anywhere on it,, the wheels are old cast iron spoke wheels marked MORRIS MOTORS LTD,,, the caravan actually looks in good shape,, the roof is a felt covered roof I don't know if this is how it would have been or if it's been done at some point, if so it's done well all neatly tucked in around the outer edges,, the pull bar is just a loop on the end not a modern towbar fitting,, I was wondering if this could be a hand made caravan not a proper makers one?? either way it's still lovely and would not take much doing up as it's not weathered at all... any comments welcome I'm quite new too this and not sure if the price is right or not?? P.S. not sure if I got the photo's uploaded correct but if you click on one of the small photo's it seems to make the others appear!!!

I take it you are in England. Bugger PB the two images look great, cannot see the ohters, have a geek at those lead light windows. Truly a unique van.

Hello Gary63, Great to have you as part of the forum, and thanks for showing us the photos of the van you're thinking about buying. It looks wonderful. As Mustang has commented it's a pity the photos you've provided via Photobucket aren't displaying. Many of us have been using Photobucket for a decade or more to display our photos on the forum, but Photobucket has very recently introduced a new policy which prevents the photos displaying unless you have quite an expensive account with them. Very annoying! You can do something similar using Flickr, if you feel like re-posting your photos via that platform to enable us to see them. There are some instructions on using Flickr in the 'Forum Guidelines & Helpful Hints' section of the forum if you're interested. (The instructions may be a bit out of date, but hopefully they will get you through.) As you may be aware, this forum is focused on Australian vintage caravans, which developed quite differently to those in the UK. That doesn't mean that we're not glad to have you as part of the forum. On the contrary, we're always pleased to hear from vintage caravan owners from other places in the world. So you are very welcome to be here. But what all this does mean is that we probably can't really answer any of the questions you've asked about the van you're looking at, except to say that it looks like a really good van with some very interesting features. You might be able to get some help from the UK Historic Caravan Club. You can find their website by clicking here. If you do buy the van, do come and tell us more about it. We'll always be interested. Don Ricardo
