Hi fellow VVer's, I've been doing a lot of research on trailer and towing weights as they apply to my tow vehicle - a diesel Pajero wagon. This research started when I decided to rebuild the chassis for my 21 foot Olympic Stardust. Rather than try and type my version or plagiarize someone else's article, I have provided a link to an excellent article below. Given the number of caravan accidents and rollovers that are now being reported, which to me indicates the lack of driver understanding around vehicle towing weights and load distribution, I believe it is a must read. If you read this article and find it enlightening, take the extra step and research correct load distribution of you loaded van; you'll be in a much safer place. PRACTICAL MOTORING:Safe motoring. Very complex subject for the moderns. On the Sunshine Coast we see them every day, basic vehicles towing blocks of flats. Some like to top it off with a boat on top, collapsible trailer on the caravans rear bumper, outboard, generator, huge tool boxes, the list goes on!!!!
