after sitting for 42 years the motor turned over by hand so i sprayed a lot of crc drown the plug holes and spun it over on the starter motor...i tried to start it but it would not start so i cleaned the points and it fired up it now been running for 50 mins there no smoke or blow by the motor seems to be realy good ..when its done i will rebuild a teardrop size v.van to go behind....brenten

What a vehicle, what memories have flashed back, I learnt to drive in one of those, that was a couple of days ago!! With all your spotters I,m sure there is a barn find out there somewhere. Have you tried a "wanted" ad in Gumtree/Ebay?

Good on you Brenten love those and remember nearly every bread bakery had them as delivery vehicles. Tip Top had them and so did the baker at the bottom of the hill in Burgundy St. It was a few years ago and I cannot remember the name.
Graham
Actually it was a bit more than a few years ago

You might find that the motor is a base for the MG and with a bit of work might go ok if not you might be able to fit an MG motor without much trouble. might be worth looking into.
lot of those were interchangeable depending on what block you have the bodies looked good standard

thanks graham the problem is the 6.56 /1 diff gears. going to try a mgb cly head a side webber carby and a hei ignion and some headers with some wolseley 3.10 /1 gears and maybe a 5 speed gear box with over drive to get the van to cruise at 90 the motor will have to spin 50% faster and i dont think the stock rods and pistons would like that long term plus the noise and poor mpg ...brenten

Granny Davis bread, were at the bottom of Burgundy street. We supplied them with changeover carbies and fuel pump. That was around 1970s But they weren't using those vans at that time. I can't remember what they were using to be honest.

Spotted in a car yard on Moggill Road Brisbane, looked like a Morris van, I was going the other way in 4x lanes so didn't get a decent look. Some one local may be able to enlarge?

Hey its coming along nicely but a lot of work hours as I am finding with my Inter. Looking foreward to seeing it in the metal mate. I saw the same van that Mustang saw but I think it is a display unit
