I purchased some new (old) Turner handles on Ebay. Some info I found when I googled Turner handles... In 1935, Rene William Turner established the Moderne Handles Company in Chapel Street, South Yarra, Melbourne, Australia employing just three people producing plastic (bakelite) molded door & cupboard handles. The company carried on to produce handles in the 50s and 60s plus other household items including candle holders. By 1966, the Company, now named Turner Industries Ltd, employed 1100 people and was producing Tools of all descriptions including screwdrivers, carpenters planes, hacksaw frames, etc...after obtaining the patterns for Pope & Falcon products (Australian versions of the popular Stanley Tools), Turner used his knowledge of the use of 'Red Cellulose Acetate' from his door/cupboard handle range to redesign the planes to included a unbreakable handle matching other items from his tool range. Turner Industries continued to manufacture Tools & Household items including Washing Machines, Lawn Mowers & Clothes Driers until 1970.
The handle at the top is out of my van and is looking very faded and has a piece broken off. Back in 2009, JBJ had 20 new plastic handles made by Dale at Classic Plastic for $68-. So I plan to contact Dale and see if he still has the mould and can make some for me in Ivory.

Hi Mel,
That's fascinating information you've told us about Turner products. Thanks for posting it.
There's probably not many of us - of a certain vintage anyway - who haven't owned or used a Turner product at some point.

Hi Roehm, I had some Turner screwdrivers back in the day. They weren't around all that loooong ago, but I have to admit it was a few years ago now. Don Ricardo

So does 2/7 on one of the packets represent the price per handle? For those who can't remember, that's 2 shillings and 7 pence! In today's money, about 25 cents!
