Not vintage vans But for for you steel bumper Holden fanatics the mint is holding their Holden coin collection launch day at the mint in Canberra this Saturday from 10 to 2pm. The coins have colour images of various models from FX to the Last steel bumper Holden , the VC commodore. They were overwhelmed by preorder web sales so there is only a few hundred premium sets of 12 (in a Holden bikky tin) left (@ $160) although plenty of individual coins and bikky tins are left for you to purchase. The images on the 50c coins are in colour! ....a new process they have developed I believe. There will be 11 cars there to represent the models featured on the coins plus hopefully a fair few Holden enthusiasts and their cars to make a show of it on the day and assist the mint to make their launch a success. Three Members from the VV crowd are providing three of the feature vehicles to match the coins on display..the FJ, HQ and EH. I'll let you have a guess who!!........... It's also advertised on Pinkys website for more details

A very enjoyable and successful day. The public started queueing from 1am outside the mint! The queue to buy the premium set was 150/200 metres long by opening time at 10am! There were some beautiful cars there for the "coin launch"display vehicles and the car park was full of steel bumper holdens whose owners had come along to buy or to help make a show of the event Cobber and Evonne with their FJ and John and Pam Strugglebrook with their amazing 350 HQ Monaro were front and centre as part of the coin launch vehicles and we all had a great day. For the third time in living memory John even wore long pants!! ...Canberra weather๐๐ On top of that (or preceding it the night before) the cobbers, strugglebrooks, koalas, the general and jennisons all had a great get together for a nite out to dinner. Been a great weekend Thanks again to cobber,Evonne, John and Pam for coming all this way to participate, great to catch up with them not to mention Ken , Judy and Graham as well. Thanks Jenno PS.......Happy birthday to John!!!!!!!!

Just an optical illusion John, I still get plurry cold on top especially in Canberra. True it was not a vintage caravan event but, there were a couple of vintage caravan tow cars there and a pretend vintage caravan on the outskirts. Thankfully it was one of those purpose built ones by 'Woody caravans' , why wreck a fair dinkum vintage van ? On the way home we stopped at Collector for a bite to eat at the nice old 'Bushranger Hotel ' then went for a drive around the town and spotted this 'Ambassador Alumvan ' that looks like it's been 'personalised' O If you haven't seen what all the fuss was about click here Sorry, that was the wrong one ๐ this one And in case you didn't know ..... Australia Post has also released a Holden Heritage collection for you to buy www.australiapostcollectables.com.au/blog/160-years-of-holden/Cobber.

G'day Holden tow car enthusiasts , Do you also realise there is a six DVD 'Holden Heritage' collection now available. So as far as I am aware that makes for a coin set, a stamp set and a DVD setCobber.
