Great photos Leonie and thanks for sharing those. If any one else has some then post them please. We would like to see some more 🍾 Weather was perfect☀️ Caravan Park just the 🐝 Knees. Great to see 50+ vans in a fantastic setting - Bridgey is ideal - maybe we need to do that again next year ? Lol
Alison and Bert will nail down a date for 2018 and you can then start booking in.
Any constructive criticism or ideas for next year more than welcome. What would you like to do/see etc. ?
Maybe those who are contemplating a Nationals venue should look at Bridgey in Vic as a possibility ?
Bridgey would be perfect ( assuming some might contemplate a 'once in a lifetime journey' to 'Mexico ' slightly out of the comfort/cyclone zone - hahaha. 🙄

Thank you Marcus & Alison, another great weekend (and not as strenuous as last year) You do put on a "good show" and we look forward to doing it again next year. Frances

Congratulations Alison and Marcus on another great weekend. The venue was perfect and the variety of Vans was amazing to see. Max and I had a wonderful weekend and we are looking forward to what you have planned for next year, BUT I think you need another sucker for the pie eating contest!!

Thanks everyone for coming along! It was such a fun weekend. Veronica from the caravan park informed us that quite a few of you have already booked for next year which was a surprise so we had better get started organising next year. The general consensus was that the park was the perfect venue so yes, it will be there again next year and the same weekend 16th - 18th February. I have created a Facebook page and encourage you to join and also invite others to join the page. There you will find information on the weekend and keep updated on what's happening and also offer suggestions and ideas. Here's the link www.facebook.com/groups/1682421455389899/ You can book directly with the caravan park on (03) 5437 3086. I'll create a new event on the events page shortly. Once again, thanks for making the weekend such a huge success. Marcus and Alison

Hi all, Dona Ricardo and I would like to echo other forum members who have thanked Florence (Alison) and Bert66 (Marcus) for organising another terrific vintage and classic caravan weekend away: Great company. Great vans. Great location. Great weather. And altogether just great fun! By my count there were 49 caravans and their owners taking part, but I may possibly have missed one or two. Maplegum has already posted photos of some of the vans that were there (well done Maplegum), and I thought I'd show you a few more. I'll do it in a couple of posts, just so that I don't overwhelm the forum! As always it is impossible to get around to actually meet everyone, so I don't have everybody's name or forum handle; apologies for that in advance. Having said that, here we go... Angus with his early 60's Wayfarer: Wal & Anna's Olympic Debonair: Brenten and Robyn's amazing Sunliner and Junkb4 (the name always makes me laugh!): Peter & Carol's homebuilt... ...and Mustang: Carol's neat chair cover: Peter & Yvonne's early 70's Ambassador: Prem's Vacation: Loretta relaxing with her (series 1) Sunliner: Some sites were on a slope, so the A-frames of the van were close to the ground, if not sitting on it, as seen with Loretta's van and Mel's 1960 Carapark Zestline... Mel chilling out with a jigsaw puzzle... ...and Bella never far away: Frances' late 50's Vacation and Falcon ute: Olympic Debonair: A couple of extra photos of Adrian & Amelia's 1949 Carapark Hunter - boy, what a difference they have made since it was advertised on Ebuy in 2013! Another beautifully restored Vacation: 1960 Victorian Viscount: Austin125's 1938 Paramount and Austin Sheerline: Austin125's daughter came along for the weekend as well, towing his 1947 Don 140: More to come... Don Ricardo

...some more photos from the Bridgewater weekend... Lindon's 70's Custom-line badged Regent: Phoenix... ...with Ford Fairlane: Redmr2red's teardrop and FC ute: Kaybee's Hawthorn: A happy bunch of campers enjoying a chat beside a Phoenix badged Franklin: A fascinating French built Rapido Export-matic collapsible caravan... ...with Rover tow car... ...and on the way down: Don's SA Clipper... ...and FC Holden tow car...with V6 badge on the dashboard...wonder what that means? Scot's Trail teardrop and FB Holden: Hitched's 1953 Roma: An interesting 1970's pop-top: Mike & Lynne's homebuilt retro teardrop: A couple of additional pics of Graeme & Betty's late 50's Wayfarer deluxe: And Dona Ricardo with our 1949 Don 140: Enough for now.The last few tomorrow. Brenten and Robyn's amazing Sunliner and Junkb4 (the name always makes me laugh!): Much Kudos on the sled Brenten! Please forgive a Street Machiner when I ask what it actually is? And air bagging the Sunny is just sublime too!

The last few photos from the Bridgewater weekend... One of the most fascinating caravans at Bridgewater - even allowing for the fact that they are all fascinating to a vintage vanophile - was this 1940's homebuilt belonging to Chris & Raelene: The van was rescued from a farm paddock or shed and needed significant re-building. Chris said that the trip home from the farm was only a few kilometres but they had to travel very slowly because they kept losing bits as they went. The re-build is just beautiful. There are a couple of little convenience modifications, but you wouldn't know it if you weren't told. The style of the van is consistent with that of the 30's or very early 40's, and represents one of only a handful of vans still existing that we've seen with that kind of styling. Great to see it out and about. Mention has been made of the excellent Trivia Quiz Night at Bridgewater. Quiz masters Marcus and Alison in full flight: Some of the participants: One question related to how many party pies Max - one half of Olddadswellsbridge - could eat in two minutes. Here's Max doing his best to meet the challenge - and the answer is a lot fewer than we expected! Once again we enjoyed being able to get some good coffee - and hot chocolates, milk shakes, spiders and banana splits - on the spot from Betty & Ruby in their 1971 Franklin Regent caravan: But a new development for the weekend was an onsite Italian food caravan - not quite vintage! But the quality of the pizzas, pasta and lots of other Italian delicacies made up for it: Tell you what, the coffee van and the Italian food van have lifted the bar pretty high for other vintage van weekends! Dona Ricardo and I didn't get a chance to get out to see much of the countryside around Bridgewater - it could have been because we were too busy checking out the vans and talking to people...possibly...? However, going and coming we did note quite a few vintage vans sitting in paddocks and yards, including a Globetrotter for sale in Bridgewater... ...a Carapark Voyager (I think) in the same front yard... ...and a Roadmaster in a caravan yard at Marong: As mentioned by others the weather was very kind to us for the weekend with bright, sunny days until just as we were hitching up to leave on Sunday afternoon. We had rain most of the way home, but it didn't spoil the weekend at all. On the way home we caught up with Mel and her Carapark heading down the Calder Highway and traveled in convoy with them for about 40 kms, before heading our different ways: So, all in all, a great weekend. Don Ricardo
