Hi, I have been talking with Tayla at Cooly Rocks On, she is the new contact person for the vintage caravan section at this years festival. The vintage vans were a big hit last year so they have extended the section at Kirra to accommodate 50 caravans this year and are calling for applications. There is no staying overnight at Kirra, but they are providing camping at nearby Border Park raceway, included in the entry price ($65) with the possiblility of a van parade from the raceway to the site in the morning. Vans are expected to be set up at Kirra and open to the public 10am-4pm Sat and Sun 11/12 June. Please email Tayla - admin@coolyrockson.com - to register your interest and get an application form Helen

So Cooly Rocks expects you to camp at the showgrounds. Pack up your van and tow it to Kirra on Sat. Set it up again and sit with it from 10 am until 4pm. Pack it up again. Tow it back to the showgrounds. Set it up again. Pack it up again on Sunday morning . Tow it back to Kirra and sit with it again for another 6 hours while thousands of the non paying general public pour over your vans. Pack it up again and try to tow it back home through the Sunday afternoon traffic! THEY should be paying YOU $65 to put on the display!!! I have displayed cars at Wintersun and Cooly Rocks for a two decades until a couple of years ago. They've lost the plot IMO, and I've elected to protest with my feet. I attended the inaugural 'Beach Fest' event at Caloundra last year and will be returning this year. Many other past long term Wintersun/ Cooly Rockers are doing the same.
Just my 2 bobs worth!! End of rant!!!
Cheers Sutcac

We will be staying at the caravan park in Kingscliffe again this year. Don't remember seeing any photos posted from Beach Fest last year so assumed it wasn't worth going to

Over 400 cars for first years event. Main street of Caloundra was chocka. They expect over 600 this year. Couldn't have been too bad! Like yourself Neil, most people cant afford to stay in Coolangatta accommodation because of the blatent price gouging that occurs during that week. Better off in a beaut spot like Kingscliffe anyway. holty1352.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/downunder-beachfest-2015-caloundra-qld.html

we went last year was good but not to keen on the moving idea well im not but other half is so who knows Hi Kimbo, We were never allowing people to stay at Kirra over night however not everyone got the message last year. The issue came about when illegal camping became a problem in the Gold Coast. As Helen has mentioned we will be holding a cruise between border park and Kirra in the mornings. I have also organised volunteers to assist with setting up and packing away to alleviate pressure on our beloved caravan owners. In terms of moving to border park at night it is actually a safer option for you and the caravan as well. We do have roaming security however do to the point in Kirra it will take a little bit of extra time for security to walk around there. At least if the caravans are at border park overnight you won't have drunk people approaching it and disturbing your sleep! Cooly Rocks On Team.

Border park also has bacon and egg rolls as well as coffee available for our caravan owners in the mornings! Cooly Rocks On Team

Beachfest was great last year, well over 400 cars. I can't wait for this years event. I know I can attend it too seen as they have all the event info up on there page unlike the Cooly page. Time applied off from work, just wish I had my van on the road so I could put her on display.

Hi Cooly Rocks On Team, just wondering if there'll be electricity available at Border Park raceway for those staying there overnight.
Not sure how I managed to mess up this post but I've lost the section of your text that I was trying to quote

Hey 330OLX,
There's no power at Border Park. It'll be old school traditional camping in the Caravans, however there are toilet facilities.
