Well today we catch the boat to Tassie. Very excited. Left Qld two weeks ago and had a slow trip down through NSW then onto Bendigo and Ballarat which was all new territory for us. Three caravans in our group and we pick up Case and Louise this afternoon. Will put some pics up of our tour. Hopefully the bushfires are under control.
Cheers Bob and Jacqui.

G'day Rod,
We are having a ball. Checked out Stanley, Boat Harbour (top free camp) Sisters Beach and the sights of Burnie in the first couple of days then a day trip to Cradle Mountain. Smithton and Aurthur River (still fires burning there) then a trip around Sheffield, Ulverstone and Penguin. Currently in Strahan for three days. Doing the river cruise today so we have been busy. Taken heaps of pics but having the usual trouble with PB so photos will have to wait until we get home. Weather has been fantastic.
Cheers Bob and Jacqui.

G'day Roddy,
Great place mate, having a ball. Currently in Dover on the east coast. Left Queenstown two days ago, fantastic place. Did the rack and pinion train up to Dubbel Barril absolute must do if you go there. Queenstown would have to be one of those last frontier towns in Aus. Vegation is coming back from our last time eight years ago. Here for three days

G'day All,
Yesterday we moved on from Bruny Island over to New Norfolk just north of Hobart and were surprised with a visit from the Olympic Guru himself, Bob Taylor.
Bob was originally coming on the trip with us but because of his ongoing medical condition had to cancel. What a great effort to come over to join us for a few days.
Bob is an inspiration to us all with his determination to not let his condition stop him from enjoying life. Good on you Bob.
Cheers Bob and Jacqui.

Hi All What a surprise I gave my travelling friends when I showed up at New Norfolk Caravan Park to greet them. I think I also surprised myself that I was able to carry out my plan, as I have had to cancel a number of events of last including bring my caravan to Tassie. All is going well just spent the last three days with my friends. I fly home on 1/3/'16 for more chemo. Cheers from a happy boblor

Hi All Well my Tassie stay comes to an end tomorrow morning when I fly back home to the Gold Coast region and warmer weather.I had a great day with all the gang on a cruise on the majestic Derwent River with lunch provided. Then it was time for me to say farewell to my friends and return to my cabin in Cambridge. I will pack and have a good nights rest ready for tomorrows activities. What a wonderful time I have had with my friends and I thank them all for making me very welcome. Cheers boblor

Well seven and a bit weeks in Tassie certainly went fast. The last couple of stops before we left were three nights in St Helens then to Bridport then down to Longford for the last couple of days. Had heaps of fun and adventures and get to keep a lot of good memories.
Returned to the big island last Thursday and travelled up to Holbrook for the night. Then onto Yass for three nights so we could visit Canberra to see the War Memorial and Parlament House. Next stop will be Katoomba for another three nights to check out the Blue Mountains. One more stopover before we get to Southwest Rocks.
Looking forward to meeting a lot of old friends and meeting the newcomers.
Cheers Bob and Jacqui.

Wow what a trip this has been ( although we'll have to take you word for it, and use our imagination, because it's been a bit light on photos ) . You will be able to give us an unbiased opinion as to whether the push for Tassie as the venue for the 2018 Nationals would be worth the boat ride. Looking forward to seeing you all at SWR. Cobber.

[You will be able to give us an unbiased opinion as to whether the push for Tassie as the venue for the 2018 Nationals would be worth the boat ride. Looking forward to seeing you all at SWR. Cobber.[/quote] Cobber ...... Nats in Tassie worth the boat ride!!!!!!!! geeeez that's like saying I've just found a ol 36 lantern top caravan... Is it worth doing up? ..........or a film crew rings you up and says we need your Caravan for a feature blockbuster movie and throws copious amounts of cash at you for your services and you saying ... " mmmmm I don't think it's worth pulling out of the shed ? I'd have to move the old Holden first". Fair Dinkum!!!!! Cause it's worth it! .........This state was made to accommodate the slow and easy pace of a towed Vintage Caravan meandering down a country road accommodating freindly waves by locals travelling in the opposite direction , thumbs up from school kids finding their way home from school and admiring glances from mothers congregating near the school bus drop off. Arriving at the caravan park stress free and unencumbered from the cares you left behind when you drove off the boat, an air of calmness settles as you pull into you spacious site with "golf green" like lawn and a welcome pack hanging off your power outlet containing teasers of Tassies finest home grown produce. Curious you can't help but go straight for the chocolate coated raspberries and in that moment when the explosion of flavour hits your palette you glance around and discover a view so amazing that it almost sends your senses into meltdown .........and it's at this point you wonder was the boat ride worth it! Cobber this is just my unbiased opinion but don't take my word for it! Come to the 2018 Tassie nationals and experience it for yourself !

Hi Bobandjacqui,
What a great trip to the Nationals! Thanks for sharing the photos.
I think we should have had you and your traveling companions up at the front at the Nationals dinner as being amongst those who traveled the farthest to get to South West Rocks. You would have given Murray (Tasmania) and The General (Western Australia) a run for their money. Mind you, there were some folks from FNQ who came a fair way as well. But you obviously had a good time and saw some great sights along the way.

Thank you for sharing. You gave the state your best shot, so many go on a fly drive for 5 days? Your photo of the Smithton wharf captured our house. We lived there for 40 years. Cheers Brent & Colleen
