Ok don't think this one has been done before so I thought I'd shed some light on the subject Feel free to iluminate us with what you have tucked away in the shed that you use with your VV. Now's your chance to shine and get in the limelight ! .....ok enough dad jokes but any bright ideas are much appreciated! (oops another one!) My first offering is a 1958 Coleman 228E duel mantle lamp that runs on unleaded petrol or Shellite. Found it in a local s/h shop and had never been used!!! Still in wrapping with all the instructions inside!! What a find! I thought it was new till I did my homework and found the year of manufacture was stamped on the base (58) Took a bit of work to get the filler cap off as it had rusted into the cork gasket so had to remake a gasket , The flow valve was seized but with a little tlc and patience, oh and CRC it came free .I attached the mantles, filled the tank, oiled the pump an it works a treat! Very bright and needs no preheating ! Used it a couple of days ago while camping and once going I didn't need too pump it up in a 4 hour evening ! Very happy Ok your go! Come on Cobber I know you'll have at least 5!!

G'day Andrew, DC3TD Gordon is the bloke who will have AT LEAST five of these things, it's a wonder he didn't start a "Show us your Camping Lamp " thread in the 'Memorabilia part of the forum I'll bet he's in his shed right now taking photos. Me ? I'll wander down and see if I can find a couple latter, won't be anything as good looking as that Coleman of yours though. Cobber.

Here's another one for you and is a dinki-di, fair dinkum true blue Aussie made Coleman The model is a Sport-Lite 242c stamped 2/52 (feb 1952) It has its original Globe and is in quite good shape for its age ( unlike some of us!!!) Gave it a spit and polish fitted a new (old ) mantle, oiled the pump washer and filled the tank with Shellite and bobsyeruncle it fired up nicely! .....The obsession grows!!! I have another Aussie Coleman that runs on Kero but waiting on a couple of parts so stay tuned! Anyone else got any to show us??

It's a good one, a bit of a polish, clean the globe, fit a new mantle, a couple of drops of oil on the plunger, fill with shellite and chances are that it will light up. We just spent a few nights camped at Tumut with our Coleman lantern as lighting. Camping stores are starting to not carry mantles so stock up if you see cheap ones. Koala

Lindsey don't listen to Koala Its not a good one And if you fill it up with Shellite it'll blow up as its a Kerosene model!!! These are prone to block up as the generator really doesn't get enough from the mantle The shellite versions are better

The coleman lantern I traded with Akeepsake beautifully restored & works a treat: Funnily enough, I actually noticed this lantern today. It has been hanging here as long as anyone can remember Akeepsake tells me it's a Handi Lantern made in QLD. Would have belonged to Mr SGTL's Grandfather.
