Hi,
Pretty sure that Sunliners all had drum brakes when built.
I've never seen one with discs, & I've seen a few over the years.
All Sunliners I've seen have been assembled using early Holden (FE to HR) bolt patterns & wheels.
The only disc I know of with the same bolt pattern is early Volvo, & I have fitted Volvo discs on an early Torana diff without a lot of difficulty.
So if discs are fitted they are not likely to be original

G'day Midniteflit, Welcome to the forum. Check out the info regarding Sunliner brakes by clicking here - see the end of page 3 of the document, going on to page 4. Not all Sunliners were fitted with brakes and I would think that any brakes that were factory fitted would have been drums in that era, so if you've got/seen discs they would have been fitted later. Someone will tell us if I'm leading you up the garden path! (By the way, if it happens to be the Gracemur version of the Sunliners built in Bundaberg, they all had brakes fitted, but I would expect they were drums. There's more info if you go to the index for the Down History Lane section of the forum and look for Gracemur.) Don Ricardo

thanks for the quick reply. This SUNLINERS brakes are DEFINITELY A disc OVERIDE SYSTEM operated by a cable running beneath the van .Looks a proffessoinal setup ,though a very early design,The cable pull at a horizontal lever which in turn squeezes two pads against a disc.Rims appear to be standard early Holden 13 inch .(maybe eh,ek ,fe). The lever device clamps directly around the axle, just inward of the wheel bearing .A very clever set up.Ill try to post some pics when next at the the van.thanks again .Jim.
