Well done Mel. Any helpful hints on how you did your mattress covers? PM me if you need to explain at length because I am very curious. Also, you are removing the outside aluminium skin, what have you decided to use when putting it all back together as the sealant?
Regards, Bob.

The carpenter used Bostik Matrix FC – it is a fast cure polyurethane adhesive sealant. It took 12 tubes to reseal every join. To make the seat cushions, I followed instructions from www.prettyhandygirl.com/sewing-a-bench-cushion-with-piping/I did a google search on how to sew an invisible zip in a boxed cushion and used a continuous zip instead of using Velcro. I used a plastic coated wire clothesline instead of piping cord. Here’s a breakdown of the costs for two seats and two backs. zip 4.5 vinyl 106.95 fabric 23.78 foam 208.00 Clothesline piping 8.98 thread 9.77 Total $361.98 It was such hard work sewing the vinyl on my domestic machine. I would be interested to hear how much it costs to have them made professionally.

Thanks Mel for your detailed response. I and removing all my 66 Viscount Ambassador aluminium skin now, giving it a good clean up, insulating and then putting it back on. I will have a look at the Bostik Matrix FC. Thanks also for the instructions and costings for the mattress covers. I presume you either pay a lot extra for the labour of someone else to make them or have the satisfaction of knowing you did them yourself.
Thanks again.
Regards, Bob.

The hatch scrubbed up ok.The old water tank had a large crack in it and shattered when we removed it.The seats are in. The curtains are up. The floor vinyl is down.
Thanks to my Dad for replacing all the broken door and drawer fronts, and for undercoating them for me.

Gee that Van Brings Memories, I had a 1965 Ambassador with the green stripe, it was much the same outside and on the inside except it has a double bed in the back, the young (then) wife hated making as the innerspring mattress was heavy, the only access was from the narrow hall, the only way she could make it was to sit on the bed, oh the memories.
Hope you have many good times in your Valiant.

We are very close to being finished!!! We have one more day before we hit the road and head off on our maiden voyage to the mainland.
The bunks were easier to make up than trying to put a sheet on an airbed in a tent.
I was still painting the door that covers the microwave when this photo was taken.
Tomorrow I will turn around the spare wheel. We have problems with it hanging too low and touching the brake cable.
