Why is it that all the old vans don't have stone guards on their front windows? ?? What do you use for "protection" ? Yet I never see one that has chipped or cracked glass? The previous owner of my Chesney fitted an aluminium stoneguard from a later caravan, but it really looks yukky and I want to take it off, but not at the expense of have regular broken windows, especially when I travel to those southern states!!!! I have a padded canvas cover in front of my Sunliner windows. Slips on a boltrope rail. simple to make and I can change colours too!! works well.

You guys with your Sunliners!!!! And I thought I was one-eyed about my love for my Propert. I remember those big mudflaps with the reflectors on them!! Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of a cover (maybe something with padding behind would also be good). Maybe the height of the windows does help to avoid those missiles. Ray

Hi Everyone
I am with jailbarjuice on this one. With very short draw bars its dang near impossible to get a rock off the back wheels up at angle sharp enough to hit the front windows. My ply van has aluminium "shin gaurds" either side at the front to protect the ply from stuff coming up off the towing vehicle wheels but nothing to protect the windows. I have seen late model vans with padded covers across the front like a "car bra" and many of these later ( and early 70s onwards) vans have drop down aluminium sun visorswhich protect the front window. Just make sure you have decent mudflaps on your car and you won't have a problem.
Hopethishelps Reddo
