Hi All I received an email from the organiser Tess Easton who is looking for Vintage caravans to attend this years Rock and Roll festival. Here are a few details, - vans are required the Big Weekend 6th and 7th June. It is a show -n- shine event along with some cars (about 100). We will be located on the grass area along Kirra Beach (just north of Coolangatta) with a public toilet block in the area. Access to Kirra site would be available from Friday 5th june 7am to 10am, or Sat.6th June 4am to 600am. Cars and caravans can be together. Entry $30 for the event. Limited spots are available. Tess would like the following info if you are considering taking part, - year, make, model, length, width . I have indicated the average van with awning out would require an area 6 000x 6 000,( a few may be lager and a few smaller). This equates to about 7-8 000 width sites. To contact Tess - tess@coolyrockson.com or phone 07- 5599 2081 Tess is hoping to make this event much bigger next year in a larger area. So consider taking part and contact Tess as soon as possible.Tess would like up to 40 vans this year if we can muster them. Cheers boblor

We are going to be there with our home made bondwood 'Lannie'. We are still working to have her finished for the event- Nothing works better than a date to stick to!! We will be situated at the Jack Evans Boat Harbour.

Lannie was finally registered yesterday! Such a giant relief She will be ready for Cooly - fingers crossed our Chevy will be too. I am really excited about going, it's our first Cooly ever and Lannie's first holiday (as far as we know) since 1983. See you there too!

boblor. re Vintage Van Show & Shine at Cooly. I thought you might be the person to talk to. I have sent two (2) messages to Tess @ Cooly in the past few weeks 28/4 and 20/5 and had no reply. My questions to her were, Where parked, What dates, Will overnight camping be allowed, If not, can vans be left on site and would there be security. Do you have any details. colnce

Do you have any details. colnce I'd say Tess is run off her feet. We tried calling all morning and finally got through. We are not in the main VC area - so I'm not sure what you are doing about parking there. In our area there is car parking (as we are taking a second car too and that was our question today). The second weekend of Cooly are the dates to know - Access is from 6am - 10am Friday 5th of June or Saturday 6th 6am - 10am (in our area anyway). We were told as it is a council park camping is not allowed - but who is going to leave their vintage caravan and classic/vintage car behind, even with security? Not me! So stay quiet and turn out the lights - (they are going to turn a blind eye, just quietly). Hope it helps a little

Hi All Well what a 'cracker of a week-end' we all had by the sea at Kirra Beach. I arrived 9.00am on Friday and set adjacent to the toilet block/stage. No sooner set and the people started to arrive to inspect our vans, people were queing to have a look until about 5.00pm. Same thing Sat.and Sun.-9.00am - 5.00pm, we all had hunreds of people through our vans over the three days. Breakfast looking out over the ocean each morning, Sat. street parade on our doorstep, and in the evening dinner at a local eatery of your choice, and the car cruise from 6.00-8.00pm. what more could you asked for in a week-end. 'paramount49' got the prize for the 'best van', first outing too. What else can I say, - Great event, great location, great weather (bit cool Sat.)and people from all over Australia admiring our hobby/life style - vintage caravans. 17 vans attended and room for more,on display were bondies, alleys, and of course fibreglass. We will gain a lot of publicity from this event, I managed to find several new Olympic owners and met others from interstate. One of the entrant stated, he and his wife had to take it in turn to talk to the visitors, answering their questions as they kept loosing their voice. I need a rest. Cheers boblor

Was a great weekend. Just wish they had put all the vans together in the end, as the numbers weren't as big as Tess had expected. Was a little lonely down in Jack Evans Boat Harbour! Was great to meet you too Bob .
