Hi Folks, Anyone know what's the best sort of paint for my 1968 Riviera Olympic? It's fibreglass... How should I test to see what's already been used? It looks like top half is house paint, lower half is professionally painted in semi-gloss... Original colour.

Hi joannalogue Welcome to the Olympic family. Do I have you on my register for Olympic vans . Norglass is a product used by a few Olympic owners. I myself used DeBeer 2pk on No, 35 Riviera when I restored it in 2011. You can find the van on the forum easily because it tourquise in colour. (hope I spelt that correct). Cheers boblor 0428 850 666

Wot he said ^^^^^^^ Also if the van is just faded and doesn't need a lot of work there are products out there that will restore the shine. Boblor is the guy to talk to about that too. My van was repainted with a hard automotive paint. It lasted well for a few years but being exposed to the sun 24/7 the roof has gone matt. Not a problem - I'll just have to put some insulating paint over it. Problem solved. Oh and welcome to the Olympic family Do you have any photos of your van you can share? Atog

Hi Boblor, Yep I've been meaning to get in touch. You do know my 1968 van - I bought it from Colleen James of Mildura about 8 weeks ago. And around that time - give or take a week I saw someone towing a similar Olympic over the bridge into NSW!! I followed it thinking I might be able to chat but they whizzed off towards Hay and I wasn't going to follow THAT far!! Was that you?
I love the idea of turquoise! Am thinking of a pale milky jade (a la about 1963). I'll check out how hard it is to apply a 2 pack - my husband is pretty good at surfboard repais so he'll help.
And thanks True Blue, Good to know there's some quick fixes!
Cheers,
Jo
