Hi all
Hubby and I are planning on doing a road trip with Jellybean (8' 4" Bondwood) next month, and as we have never been down that way before we were wondering if anyone down that way can recommend places to go and see. We have a couple of weeks to spend getting there and back, so need to plan what we want to fit in. Any recommendations on towns/attractions to see would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance Dianne

Jondi, which way do you wish to travel, down the coast and back the inland by the highways?, how much time do you want to spend.

We're thinking of driving down inland. Ie through Moree, Narrabri, Dubbo. No definite plans and haven't decided whether to come back the same way or the coast road. We have a couple of weeks to fill. Maybe come back the coast road, although I think we prefer inland. Open to suggestions. Thanks

Hi Dianne & John
We recently travelled to melbourne & back towing Deejay to its new owner, & bringing a Quest 15' van back.
We travelled down the Newell Highway, & found traffic fairly light. Not a lot of trucks, & road surface not too bad for highway. Not a lot of roadworks either.
Lots of good towns & Caravan Parks, but a couple we found good on this & previous trips included Gunnedah, Coonabarabran,Tooraweena, Jerilderie ( northern side of town), & Chiltern.
The trip around the coast is a good one, but traffic between Ulladulla & Newcastle will be heavy. Heaps of great parks & towns in a great part of Australia.
If you stop at Shellharbour, the fish & chip shop next to the ocean baths is run by an old greek guy & his son, & he makes the best fish & chips I've had since I was a kid.
We try to stay at different parks in most towns, but some of the better ones are worth going back to I reckon.
Have a good trip. I reckon you will enjoy it immensely

JBJ hi dennis when we were down there he told us that he and his wife prepare their own chips, they don't buy the precut bags most chippies use. geoff 'n jude ps alan and i went in there so often he started giving us discounts via extra scollops, fish patties etc with each order, he's a really nice chatty bloke.

Hi. Thanks for the info Dennis. I'm thinking we probably will be staying in land as it will be school holidays and we would rather avoid the crowds. Might do a coast trip another time. Hopefully we'll get some suggestions for the touristy things to do down that way soon.
