Hi 2sneezles, Wow, you two are miracle workers. I don't think I've ever seen such a 'clean' Don, and I know how difficult it is to remove the original paint from the marine ply, plus the few other coats that have been applied since. That will be a great base to work from as you are repainting. Great to see the pics of your work. Well done on getting them up. You asked what thread to post your photos on. I wondered if you might like to add your posts to the thread showing how the van was when you bought it - here? If you like, I can move that thread from the 'For Sale' section to the 'Members Photo Albums' section and merge this current thread of yours with that one (and even give the thread a new title if you wish). You can then just add posts to it as you go. People can then see the story of the restoration you are doing on the van from how it looked at the beginning. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. Hi 2sneezles. What a lovely clean Don to work on, can't say I have ever seen one that is so clean on the outer skin either, it looks flawless. Much different to anything I have worked on that's for sure. What you have done with the paint scheme makes me feel like doing the next one in the true colours. Great work. Surf Tragic

Hi 2sneezles,
As discussed higher up this thread, I've merged your threads about the Don with the original post from the 'For Sale' section from 2015. The thread now includes the various discussions about the paint, electrical wiring and internal fittings along the way. I hope that's ok? You'll see I've given the combined thread a new subject heading. If you don't like it, let me know and I'll be happy to change it. Also let me know if there are any posts on the thread that you think are no longer pertinent.
If people are interested in how the van looked when you got it, they can look at the first post in the thread. What a difference!!! The paint on the roof looks flawless, as Surf Tragic has commented. Just beautiful. The van is looking fabulous.

we have had a new drop axle with electric brakes fitted. We can still use the Chev wheels which we really like ,and we have new hubcaps from a rod shop. We will post pics later on. We have also finished reinforcing the floor in the main walkway running from front of van to rear. We did not want to lose the original look of floorboards when inspecting under van,so we decided to used well seasoned Jarrah floorboards that came out of an old building. We cut lengths app 600 long . Each board was about 20mm thick but in order to slip them in over the top of the trailer, and immediately under the existing boards we had to shave off about 1mm on every piece. Each board was then tapped in to join tongue and groove . This allowed us to fit each piece snugly under the existing floorboards. We painted the boards with two coats of tar give greater protection against the elements. We now have a solid floor, The floorboards immediately in line with the wheel well on either side,we left as was . The pin hole borer evidence can still be seen but the boards are strong and not exposed to any foot traffic so we decided not strengthen. don flooring by 2sneezles smith, on Flickr
