Hidey Ho there humpster 2 caps would be just ginger dandy old bestest fobbergrosser mate from way back pal doesnt matter if they have kissed the gutter on the domes , as i think they will have to have holes cut in the centres to allow the van hubs to stick through em Not dead cert until i get the roll along the road bits back underneath it.. Geez i am glad Coledale aint next week .. still got plenty to do... here is a few progress shots of some bits and pieces i have managed to finsih off in between building the ice chest.. fly screen door, carpet and entryway tiles done.. 240volt and 12 volt lights and power points now working. I wired a double weatherproof point under the annexe side of the van behind the wheel arch rather than stick an ugly plastic box on the side of the van 3 burner caravan stove now behaves itself after fitting a 2.75 psi regulator to the little 5 kg Companion gas bottle. I tried the sytove on straight bottle pressure and the whole stove burst into flames. I had fire at all three control spindles / The regukator tamed things down and she works perfect now. someone asked a while back about where the table fitted. She hinges up against the wall out of the way during the day or whenever ya dont need it> ya have to remember this van is only just over 9 feet long and there isnt much room inside for ball room dancing Table folded down off the wall Cabin bolt holds leg in place and prevents it from folding back under if accidently kicked.. Curtains are pure australian cotton. The dicks that made them have had 2 goes at getting it right. They are still too full and i have to wrestle them back along the wires and tie em off to let light in the van There is a 12 volt light up under the cupboard above the stove near the chimney flue. only a small fitting but throws good light on the stove. This is the cupboard over the bed. It had 2 sliding ply doors that continually jammed when tryoing toi slide em open. I eventually spat the dum and tore them out. I rescued 2 old hinge open cupboard doors off of the old "fugly van" and have them cut to size, sanded and ready for primer. The mirror between the 2 cupboard doors is a copper colour. There was a smaller mirror there before butthe silver backing had suffered badly from condensation and flaking. I found this mirror on an old wine cabinet amongst the curb side junk. I have put a couple of mirrors in the van... NO .. they are not there because i like lookin at myself. I figure they will help refract light around the inside of the van and help brighten it up as well as give the impression that the van is bigger than what it actaully is.... another one of my half baked theories Might have to talk to a chinaman and see if it will affect the feng swae.. or however ya spose ta spell it. meanwhile runnin out of weeks. Coledale and the toutr closing in fast.. no axle, wheels or brakes, Ice chest and fridge to finish. Annexe clips then annexe to fit up, no ropes or pegs, cupboards to finsh.. no rego yet... Oh poop ... gotta go ... must rush... bye fa now.. Reddo

Gee Reddo, Parquetry and carpet on the floor of Rosie! Talk about lifting the V V style stakes! I'm going to have to install a marble floor in the Don to keep up. (At least it will lower the centre of gravity a bit. ;D ;D ;D) Seriously though - Rosie is looking great. Don Ricardo

Hey Reddo Been watching your progress with Rosie/Mildred and she is looking goooood. That sink and benchtop just blow me away.... Why are so many manufacturers too scared to produce colour combinations like that anymore? ?? The right combination of lighting and appliances make her very appropriate for her age..... She is growing old with dignity Well done on the restore and keep up the good work Atog

Why am i not surprised of the outcome of Reddos` `van? Gotta say that behind the 'buffooness'(and i say that affectionately)-not intimately! haha- lurks the gritty 'nuts & bolts' no bs mind that transforms basic to showcase. I`ve watched the process/progress of Reddos van in particular and whilst at first wondered particularly about the interior colour scheme, it certainly has come together so well. Very impressed, Reddo. Makes me think why we can`t have our own members award. Just a thought. Anyhows great job and i can already see your beaming smile. So what`s next? cheers

Hey Reddo
Well done. Real good for a bloke mummified in 2" gauze and plaster of paris. Love to see what ya could do if ya weren't restricted by preservation materials.
Like the door on the cupboard above the stove, where did ya score that from?
Bob

I`d say it`s a tray which Reddo`s cleverly turned into a door by adding hinges, handle and bearing lock. Great touch. And focal/vocal point. cheers

Hi Bob Yup rfw got it in one. Old tin tray. latching mech is a magnet . There never use to be a cupboard over the stove, nor was there a chimney. Once i installed the chimney i figured i would build the cupboard to hide the flue pipe. Then i ended up sticking a power point in there and routing the 12 volt power wire from the battery under the bed up through the cupboard. I have installed a C-Tex 12 V battery charger up in there so that while i am on 240v i can charge the battery back up without pulling the bed to bits to get to it. Just open the cupboard and flick the point on and the charge heads down and back to the battery. The Shed of invention struck another unexpected blow on me today. Fiddling around with a bit of brass flat bar putting a "Lazy S" shape in it for the ice chest door latch. I overbent it slightly and when i went to straighten it .. it snapped off. I knew that brass is brittle and doesnt take too kindly to being bent... That is why i was trying to put a lazy s in it.. not right angle bends. My little finger on my right hand slid over the jagged edge... End result .. a deep cut across the palm side at the first joint. Trish near passed out when i came out of the shed and said i was headin to the hospital... Blood everywhere We patched it up and i went to an old Hospital near here that still runs a weekend outpatients emergency ward... Shut . I went to the Big local hospital.. the emergency ward had about 50 people waiting So i came home and dressed it again. I reckon it needs about 3 or 4 stitches. Will go to my local doc tomorrow and get him ta whack a few in it......... Bloody stinkin old caravans... I never use to have this sort of trouble when i use to collect stamps.... Perhaps i should have stuck with the stamps... pardon the pun. Stitches should be out in time for coledale. Thats if i dont carve any more chunks off myself This vintage vanning is dangerous stuff i will have ya know Reddouch, ouch, doh, doh, doh

Never knew 'bras' to be brittle !! Ever thought of using "Bond(y)crete" & a stamp to seal your war wound!! Yep, brittle as all ****. Ain`t gonna be the one to say to use a bit of heat on bending brass flat bar. Damn,i did. That`s how i did the inner support ring on that big brass & copper letter box of mine. But anyhows, cuppla days maaaate, she`ll be fine. Cheers

Ho, Ho, Ho... Very bloody funny Kaybee Jeez i hate people who take the mickey out of people who are less fortunate than themselves..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Finally managed to get to a doctor yesterday arvo... sorry the wound is more than 8 hours old .. we cant stitch it. Have got the reddotel lab rats working on a new form of body filler. Gunna get em to knock up a few spare ears, fingers and eyes so i have less "down time" when i get my head jammed in the spare wheel door of utes, fry my eyes welding up towbars under Chev utes , or slice off fingers bending brittle material in a vice..... Meanwhile ... back in the shed of Infliction, disection, pain and suffering The quest for completion of Rosie in time for the Tour and Coledale goes on.... Just hope i am fit enough and there is enough of me left to tow the "Devil cursed Rosie" there when the time comes. Reddo... ward 13

Hi Reddo
Man you must be careful or start taking a different tack. Me thinks alcohol is the blame here, either you came up with the idea over a cold one or you were thinking of a cold one when you were straightening things.
I think you need an apprentice to do the risky work, at least if you break one you could go get another and the VV stuff would continue.
Stamp collecting is just as dangerous, paper cuts mate, recycled paper, ya just dunno what is in it. Distinct danger to the health, at least metal has been sterilized even the recycled stuff. Pss Stop welding with ya eyes open, use an apprenticeā¦.
Like what you have done with the cupboard and the door you chose, certainly looks good.
This one is going to look a treat behind the ute from way down south.
Bob

Thanks for the link Kaybee... So THATS wear my fancy dress headgear went to after i got on the bus at Macs Hotel Mt Gambier. We knocked that up in a long while back. It is designed to clamp on your head when ya have a debilitter.. debeak..... delibera....dibilita.... ... umm when ya cop an injury which involves pain and suffering. ( a regular occurence in TSOI) Idea is ya plonk the antique artifact skull compressor on ya melon and wind the handle until the jaws ,cogs and spikes come in contact with your skull. Just wind the handle until the pain in your head outweighs the pain ya feelin' in the body part ya have just severed or smashed/crushed. This takes your mind ( whats left of it) off the injury Get someone to work quickly and render first aid on the damaged bit.... if its a leg or an arm ( or both ) they are sewing back on make sure they sew 'em back on in the right place facing the right way. Bloody disappointing/ embarassing when ya release the headclamp and regain conciesness and find some workshop pleb charged with the job of administering first aid has sewn ya leg on facing backwards. It happened to me twice now..... end result is both legs facing backward and when i walk i cant tell weather i am coming or going. AAh well folks .. until the next installment ...stay safe Reddisabled... and definitley handicapped
