Was flicking through the most recent posts yesterday and noticed JBJ’s avatar, “joined the forum in January 2005”
Is it really 10 years JBJ !
Not many older members have survived 10 years on this forum, very few in fact…. whether they’ve moved on hobbywise……. or lost interest in vintage vans…… or got frustrated with the banter that goes on here …….. or were only ever here for the “vintage caravan fad” until they got bored with it!
But, JBJ is always there, and always has been. He has survived the bun fights, the sometimes endless boring “imageless” posts, the forum’s quite times….. but has always been here for the good times the forum and its members have enjoyed.
The sometimes gruff, grumpy hot rodder and his lovely wife Boots from Alstonville are true, genuine Aussie characters, the sort of characters that make this forum
……..and his enthusiasm for our hobby never waivers.
We have witnessed some really interesting projects displaying good workmanship, as well as JBJ showing great mateship via his helpfulness and interest in our hobby.
Our Nationals events are held to meet new forum members, and to renew acquaintances with members we have met at previous events. At the bi-annual vintage vans Nationals events, I always make time to catch up JBJ….. the man I first met at the 2006 Nationals in Morgan who has had an everlasting impression on me for his workmanship and enthusiasm on a little “Purdon” caravan he restored for the that event.
And I still have the memories of his and Boots “dancing antics” on the night of our 2006 Nationals dinner
His posts are sometimes are little controversial, alot of time interesting, many times helpful, but always from the heart.
I always take time to read his posts, because they have meaning and depth, they are not paragraph after paragraph of the waffling garbage variety that has been seen on this forum.
His projects are always constructive either restoring or improving a vintage caravan or period tow car, not projects building something of his own design that have little to do with our hobby.
His 3708 posts are “quality” material.
And, he has spent much of his time as a member of the moderating team, assisting where he could, and managing our memberships.
JBJ …..you need now to focus mainly on your health as well as your projects, coz we want you around for another 10 years at the very minimum .
Maybe one of our research and “link” specialists can follow on this thread with links to JBJ’s many and varied projects, ……. maybe Clyde can throw in some humerous pics of JBJ and boots from his large library of “forum moments”.
Onya JBJ !!
