It is intriguing to note that this van has quite a different side profile to the regular 16 ft Sunliner shown below next to a regular 13 ft van. In particular it does not have the sloped rear: Nor does Tucky48's van have the overhanging bulkhead over the front window normally seen on a 16 ft van, such as this one: There must be an interesting story behind Tucky48's van, I reckon... Thanks Don Richardo for putting this photo up for me. please notice the shape above the front windows and the side windows are recessed. the spear shape is under the front side windows and part of the spear off the original guard opening under the rear side windows. this van was found about 200km south of Perth. we found two spare wheels inside the van so we replaced the wheels with flat tyres and set off. with in 30km we lost both tyres, we had pumped the original tyres up ( flat for 20 years) before leaving so refitted them and got all the back to Perth. by the way the van was still licenced after sitting in a paddock for over 20 year. my son and I really enjoyed the recovery. Hi Tucky48, It has occurred to me that your van is not unlike the Walden Sunliner in that it appears to be a 13 ft Sunliner with a couple of feet added in the middle. The way that the extra section has been added into the two vans differs, and they also differ in that the Walden Sunliner is based on a type 3 Sunliner body, whereas yours is based on a type 2 Sunliner body, but similar concept...sort of... I was playing with the idea that your van may have been an early Walden conversion, but - as you'll see from the Walden thread - the grandson/daughter of Denis Walden is quite insistent that the Walden we know about was definitely a one-off, and as we understand it was built from scratch with its own distinctive layout and internal fittings. In contrast your van appears to have been 'expanded' after market if the placement of the spear moulding following the wheelarch is any indication. So your van is still a mystery, but it is clear that people did modify Sunliners in various ways. Don Ricardo

Hi Tucky,
Yes, I quickly realised that your van isn't a Walden, but I was just interested in the similar-ish approach to 'growing' a Sunliner.
Intriguing to think there's another Walden out there somewhere.
