At the Murwillumbah Motorfest in early December, we had lots of discussion about possible events for 2015 for northern NSW/SEQ area & we came up with heaps of options. Many people said that one of their favourite venues was the weekend at Cabarita Caravan Park in October 2013.
So before Christmas, I dropped in at the Cabarita Caravan Park & asked the manager Brenda whether we could book the whole Park for the Australia Day long weekend. She already had a couple of bookings for that weekend, but she’s happy to reserve the rest of the Park for us & put her other couple of vans/tents away from us. That probably means we would have about 25 sites available to us.
The Park is still pretty much the same as our last event, except that there are now only 3 annex platforms left (including the one we used as a dance floor) so it’s basically just mown grass now with the same clean facilities as last time.
For anyone who didn’t get to Cabarita before, this is a very old fashioned caravan park located next to a Nature Reserve right on the Beach. It’s a lovely walk through grassy paths & native bushland (including mature pandanus palms) onto the beach. A short stroll up the beach & you can have a swim in the patrolled area or walk around the Headland into the next bay called Bogangar.
A stroll across the road takes you to an excellent Woolies, & a great little shopping centre with plenty of cafes & restaurants. I’m suggesting we could have Saturday night dinner and/or drinks (whatever you prefer) at Martys at Caba. They have live music between 7-10pm & a good little dance floor. It really is only about 100 metres across the road from the Park, so no one has to worry about drinking and driving. I’ve made a reservation for 40. They will set up 4 tables for 10 people each. Check out the menu on their website at www.martysatcaba.com/
A great little fish n chip shop is also next door to the Park.
There are still plans afoot to build apartments on the site of the Park, now by Easter 2015, so yes I know I’ve said this before but THIS IS REALLY YOUR LAST CHANCE TO STAY AT A GENUINE 1960’S PARK ON THE BEACH!!!!
Cabarita Caravan Park, 1 Coast Rd, Bogangar, 02 6676 3222, $40/night, dogs allowed on leads.
Cabarita Beach is just south of Tweed Heads & is only a 10 minute drive off the Freeway.
Please either PM, post here, text, phone, email me if you want to come so I can keep Brenda in the loop. So far 5 vans have expressed strong interest, so if you can contact me asap, that would be great, otherwise Brenda will give our sites to other people. Also when you contact me, let me know if you’re interested in going to Martys for dinner on the Saturday night & which nights you're staying at the Park, Frid, Sat, Sun?
Thanks
